I would hope that journalists soon get their hands on some of these production cars so that we can at least read some reviews before customer delivery launch

There is nothing to hate about the M4 (yes I prefer an M3 over an M4)
I am simply saying it from my own experience. I am pretty sure few folks here know what I am talking about (dct issues, lsd issues etc.)
By the way.. in case you didn't know
There are lots of haters on this forum so I don't really blame you guys

What DCT and LSD issues? I had an 08 (First production year) and DCT wasn't even out for the first half of the year.

People say the 08s have bearing problems but I have seen plenty of 09+ with the same problem. The only real disadvantage to an 08 is no LCI and no iDrive. And LCI wasn't updated for the coupe until 11.

You really have to wonder about BMW USA don't you? It would be so easy to engage people, work them up, get them excited, and they would need to do so little but yet they don't.

Do you think there are any actual car guys at BMW USA?

Probably. As I said a few posts ago BMW doesn't run their own site. It's outsourced. I find it odd if anything that all the sites are independently run.

I don't think that's odd. BMW USA doesn't want to hire and manage a horde of programmers and engineers to run servers. That's not a competency of theirs so they outsource it. That makes perfect sense.

What I find odd is that given that the only reason they exist at all is to provide a presence for BMW in NA and to sell cars and manage issues surrounding the selling of cars, you'd think they would be better at it than they are. But they suck.

Every time I talk to a dealer, they have less info than I have about what's coming from BMW. I've talked to dealers in California about the F10 M5 (a couple years ago), the F80 M3 and the i3 and in all cases I ended up forwarding material I had found on bimmerpost to the dealer because the dealer had no clue. So BMW clearly doesn't place much value on keeping their dealer network informed.

I have owned two M3s (E90, E46) so you'd think I would be a perfect candidate for them to market the new F80 to, ahead of the launch, but they still don't seem to even acknowledge the existence of the new M3/M4. Nobody from BMW NA has ever contacted me about anything.

When I try to use their configurator, the sw is often broken or down.

Finally, when I contacted them about an issue with my E90 M3, I never heard back from them.

So from all this I conclude that either the incentives placed before them from the BMW AG mothership are misguided (people behave as the incentives dictate) or that every single person in a leadership position in BMW USA is incompetent. Or perhaps both.

Much wider rear wheel arches in the M4. Also M cars are supposed to be sleepers recognised by the conoscenti only....

Agreed with almost everything you said. Just to be clear I meant it was odd that each site was individually managed by different companies not that they outsourced it. I'm glad the outsource it

That yellow. I think it will look plain menacing rolling down the streets. Haters can say what they want about color and first model year blah blah.
1 thing is certain, the AY cars will get way more attention than the AW cars!!

Great photos! Whoever gets the first M4, lucky lucky. Btw, first model years are sometimes the best. Yr 2 is the first year of cost down ideas. Sure sometimes there are improvements, but they are looking to reduce cost where the consumer can't see it. Besides, can't worry, got the warranty. If your new m4 breaks, make them loan you an m6.

I like to look different than the masses, AY could be an option for my future...

Also the 1st production M3/M4 is going to be a collector, worth much more than any that follows it. Just check the prices that these 1st production models get in auctions...

the m4 in a dark blue launch would be absolutely stunning. bmw dropped the ball w/ the colors. i refuse to get a white bmw living in los angeles. waste of money. no character. like someone forgot to paint the guy. and i'd look like every other middle eastern driving a bmw w/ blacked out tail lights/headlights/windows and everything else stock
