OK, so after having lived with the car a little longer, here are my new settings:
I now have MDM activated in the "Comfy DD" M1 setting; I find the regular DSC way too castrating. Since I only use DCT "D" mode on the daily drive and since it already defaults to D1, I prefer to have M1 set with DCT in S1. If I want "D" mode, I simply flick the shift lever to the right and get D1. I also toned down the DCT to S2 for the "spirited street" M2 setting. I find that the aggresive shifts in S3 caused too much MDM intervention; I find S3 perfect for the track with DSC off though. M1 (Comfy DD): - Throttle: Efficient - Suspension: Comfort - Steering: Comfort - Transmission: S1 - DSC: MDM - HUD: None M2 (Spirited street / Wet track): - Throttle: Sport - Suspension: Sport - Steering: Sport Plus - Transmission: S2 - DSC: MDM - HUD: None M2 (Dry track): - Throttle: Sport Plus - Suspension: Sport Plus - Steering: Sport Plus - Transmission: S3 - DSC: Off - HUD: None I am still pissed about the default start-up settings . BMW, are you listening Last edited by CanAutM3; 09-25-2015 at 07:53 AM.. |

M1 Daily Driving:
Throttle Sport Suspension Sport+ Steering Comfort Transmission S3 DSC On HUD M mode M2 Fantasy Driving: Throttle Sport + Suspension Sport + Steering Comfort Transmission S3 DSC MDM HUD M mode I haven't seen anyone post this combo yet. IMHO, steering is best in comfort mode in any combination, and closest to the feel of my old E93. Transmission 3 is the closest simulation to the DCT I'm used to from my E93 as well, the other two settings just feel normal to me. Sport + throttle is cool, but challenging for driving around the city. Sport + suspension makes up a little for the lack of stiffness of the convertible, less noise from the roof panels. MDM mode is as daring as I get, no desire to do donuts through intersections. Only complaint about the M mode HUD is when I need to use GPS, instructions relocate to the console and they are hard to follow. Subtle difference between the two modes but just right for 90% of my normal usage. If I have someone new in the car, I usually start off with everything in comfort mode, transmission on 1, then step it up to show the difference. It is a perplexing oversight to not let us set the preferences for startup though, but I just hit M1 as soon as I turn on the car and get on with it. It's hard not to enjoy this car no matter what you do! Last edited by nkgmd; 02-19-2015 at 11:49 AM.. |

EDIT: Updated since I got my car!! Not much change
M1: - Throttle: Efficient - Suspension: Comfort - Steering: Comfort - Transmission: D1 - DSC: On - HUD: N/A I pretty much always drive shifting myself when the car is up to temp though, so I end up in S2 when I engage the paddle shifters/gear lever. M2: - Throttle: Sport Plus - Suspension: Sport - Steering: Sport - Transmission: S3 - DSC: MDM - HUD: N/A

I set both modes with DSC on because I rarely drive the car at the most extreme mode. If I do, I set it manually.

Anybody know if you can code yet for standard settings yet as opposed to hitting the M1/M2 button?

I can't seem to find one setting that I really want to stay in all the time. I'm constantly changing the settings manually and almost always use comfort and efficient modes unless I'm doing spirited driving.

I saw the top gear episode with the m4 and clarkson noted that the car is easiest to get sideways and keep sideways with steering in comfort. Since I just got mine and haven't had time (north east weather sucks) to track it, I can't comment on the validity of his statement. I have a track day coming up next month and will know soon.

I programmed one of the radio buttons for HUD on and HUD off so you can still use the M buttons and then simply push, in my case number seven... Toggles the HUD off and on with one button.

I guess you don't have adaptive suspension, so is what is the equivalent mode of a car without it to car with it? Sports mode? Thanks you! |
