Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I don't find it offensive as most are under the car. I think of them as finding Easter eggs! |

Lol at the poster who said he heard from a friend who works for BMW that all those emblems cost the car 17lbs in weight. Step it up BMW that's easy weight savings!

As stupid and overzealous as the badging seems, it is nice to know probably every part that's badged is unique to the $80k car you just bought (over its $45k 335i brethren).

From what I gathered reading the article - It's not the number of logos but each M part is designed differently by the M division for weight and strength. I noticed it when my dealer was installing some M performance parts on my F80 car. There was a regular 335 on the lift next to mine. The M stamped parts are designed differently and fit differently on the underside anyway.

I've got no problem with the Ms on the car with the exception of the seat logos which would have been much better if they were simply embossed into the cloth/leather. Maybe embed an LED in the headliner shining down on them if you want it to light up.
But honestly, walking up to the car you've got....an M on the grill or rear end, a small M on the side gills, and very small M's on the wheels. And on the calipers. That's not over the top in my mind. Inside with the seat logos is a bit too much, but not bad since it's hard to see more than 2-3 logos at one time The vast majority of those 67 M's are on suspension parts and plastic pieces that are only visible when working on the car. Many of those pieces are distinct to the F80 vs. the F30, but not obviously so, and thus may be stamped to help ensure parts don't get mixed up during servicing either. |
