Yes Levi, we all know by now that you are absolutely against turbo charging in M cars, you have been writing that for the past 6 months.

I'm sure BMW will have more time now (than with the 1M) to do more engine tuning. And especially for you, they can give that engine a different name.
So it will not be 'just a tuned' version of a motor that's also in non-M cars...

It is not about turbocharged engines in M cars. It is about how litte change was made or how little effort was done for the M engine. I can't say that about the M5/M6, engine, althought it doesn't sound like the NA V10, this engine is one of the best turbocharged V8's. I wish the same for the M I6.

Levi, When they build 1M they dont need to do anything on N55 engine, just chip little. Only bad thing is that intake noise is gone, but otherwise FI engines are lot better, It´s allso weigth less than S54 NA(N55 190kg, S54 ~210kg), maybe N55 aluminium-magnesium block makes differend.

I think next generation M3 F80 need forged engine parts if they wanted to taken +450hp, if I am rigth N55 engine doesn´t have forgen pistons, rods, crank etc?

In the article CAR never claims that these are REAL.

Enough said!

mistake IMO. The new M3 will be a lot lighter with the smaller engine with much better tuning potential through FI. We all love the V8 M3, it handles like no other 3-serries, however the engine is lacking for an M. It sounds great but that's just about it, nothing special. In fact the N54 engine tops the S65 in terms of efficiency and tuning potential, hence the N54 for the 1M and the believed to be tri-turbo 3 letter setup of the F80 M3.
But i gota admit that S65 sure does sound sexyyy.

The I6 engine setup really is BMWs trademark, this car is going to be SICK.
Shoulda saved an extra year for the 2014 M3. I wonder how much horse they can get out of the new tri turbo engine
