The front especially. It's not the photo, the F80 truly looks like an M5 through and through in the flesh. I.e they way an M5 should and used to be.

So, the microphone picks up the engine sound? Because exhaust noise would be in the rear, no?
I'm guessing it's positioned to pick up induction sound. It's amazing how much of an engine's characteristic sound is actually related to induction sound, not exhaust.

Really? that was you, awesome! thanks for bringing it by. Looks like you happen to be at the right place at the right time getting to see the f80 in person.
LOL. Of course they're going to say that. I doubt this will even match a regular 911 let alone the GT3 which is by far the best on the market and better than any hydraulic bmw has ever done even.

The rep who happens to be a good friend of mine comes from a pretty solid track/aftermarket background and has driven the car more then most and he said it was that good then I trust him.

I have not driven the gt3 yet maybe you have and I have not driven the f8x either maybe you have? But until then I'll trust his opinion

Until the cars are actually field tested by non biased people we ca t say who is better then the other so yes it's their word at this time but why wouldn't it be possible that bmw ESP is better??

Another thing everyone, the perforations in the seat leather are to absorb body heat, so they do serve a functional purpose aside from looking great!

And yes like everyone who has sat in the seats so far will tell you they are very comfortable!

Part of the reason I am going with a 997 over the 991 is due to the steering feel. Even between cars (991 S, 991 4s, and 981 Boxster S) the feel varies, the best in my opinion being the Boxster. I am really looking forward to driving this new m3/m4.
Power steering plus aka variable sport steering is the worst thing ever. I have hated it in every car I've ever driven that's had it. It's a disaster IMO

I know it seems silly, but that unibrow hood line still seems so out of place. Maybe on a black car it would look better?

BMW have been using an ASD module for the last 2 years to simulate the exhaust sound inside the cabin. There is no microphone anywhere, just synthesized sound controlled by a pre-determined algorithm (engine- and vehicle-speed) via the gas pedal sensor.

So, is your source saying that the M3/M4 will use a completely different system?

I highly doubt it. They weren't as good when it came to hydraulic...would be surprised if they were able to get it to that calibre. Again, of course they're going to claim that, they have to. They can't admit defeat right away.

Just like how bmw said the m3/4 weighed 3306 lbs and they are really over 3562 lbs. I wouldn't put much faith in anything they say.

The new m5/6 have awful steering and they aren't even eps.

I asked him that exact question and he stated to me there was a microphone, so I left it at that. Did I ask him to point the microphone out to me, no. I moved on, I only had a limited time to pick his brain before he had to run. ill shoot him a text and see if I can get any other info for you and everyone else who is interested. I can't promise anything but ill def try

I have had 2 AW M3's in the past and I think If I had to pick between AW and YMB for me I would go with YMB bc it just stands out, however i like standing out a little. I had always had AW or Black but when I had my MCB e92M it seemed to help differentiate my car from the others.

My M4 I went with Black bc I was scared (ill admit it) of going with YMB. but now that I have seen it in person I really liked it and may opt for it next go around.
