Bulb upgrade for Xenon headlights?

Hi everyone,

I have a 2016 M3 equipped with Xenon Headlights, I guess the previous owner didn't wanna spend the extra cash on LEDs. Anyways I noticed they are yellowish and very dull. I'm looking for an alternative wants something bright, white/blue light. Any good bulb swaps?

Thanks

I guess you didn’t want to spend the extra cash either.

Change the bulbs maybe? Be aware that when you go for that that "cool blue/purple" color, you are really just reducing the amount of visible light thats put out...

I tired multiple bulbs in my S5 (xenon only) to try to find the perfect upgrade..

Settiled on the Phillips whitevision gen 2. It's a good level of color and brightness. Wasn't super happy with them at first, but once they broke in they became perfect. A lot of xenon bulbs have ~100 hour break in. I don't frequently drive at night, so I doubt I even put that much on them.

The bulbs I tried before them were just way too blue for me, even though they were only rated 5500K, so you can't really go by specs alone. This is somewhat of a trial and error thing.

My next move if I didn't like the whitevision would have been Osram CBIs. Those have a huge following in the HID world and are very popular.

Good luck!

I'm willing to spend the extra cash, I'm just pointing out that the previous owner of the car didn't purchase the lighting package.

They were calling you out for the irony of your post... you complained about previous owner not spending the cash but you were the one who bought a used car...

My xenons are not yellow in the least bit - they are a nice 4300k color and the light output is quite good. Perhaps there is something wrong with your ballasts.

I will take the Adaptive Xenons over the Adaptive LEDs any day of the week. Consider yourself lucky as they are the best Headlights available from BMW in America.

OEM Xenon is about 4300 Kelvin which is a ting of yellow, but certainly not real yellow.

Osram cool blue boost is the latest and greatest - will give you the led pure white light without sacrificing output

Was it difficult to change out your xenon headlight bulbs. What approach did you use (wheel weld or entering from the top for access) I have a 2017 M3 that I would like to change out bulbs...can you offer a suggestion..
