I think it depends where you live, how bad are Parking spaces ??
It really is important to figure out what happens if you get a nick in your bumper ? Alpine white, black and grey might be easy to match. I assure you, matching mineral white, Sakhir orange , yas blue or Austin yellow will be nearly impossible to match if you get hit and need to repaint it.. Just something to think about . |

I think the original point was that it will get you noticed differently from all the other BMWs and then the AaaaHaaa moment will happen with whomever is looking at it to identify it as an ///M

True, a lot of soccer moms (and dads too) don't even know what an M car is. I'd bet that most people couldn't tell you what the difference is between a 320 and an M3. Car enthusiasts can, but we're a rare breed.

Exactly, which i why my point is to get the color that you like, not because people will know it is an M car.

depends on your age and image you want to present is also important. I do not hang out with friends on gas stations showing off my ride. I do not go to BMW meetups (would like to but no time). I'll use my M3 as a DD. I do not want police pay attention to me and especially my co-workers and even some relatives. I want them to think I just drive another BMW (there are many of them in the area).
I want my M3 give me the smile from ear to ear - this is what I experienced during my numerous test drives. This image is for me. p.s. do not mean to be the party pooper here but unless you are a teenager and/or have multiple cars, spooky colors will cause problems - IMHO |

I'm 69, and I can't imagine having a Sakhir Orange refrigerator either. Oh, yes my M4 is SO too.

YMB is definitely not the best color but it's what I'm ordering. It's an M car. Why not. I'm coming off of a black M5. That thing was invisible.

I think either way it will be a good choice, I drive a Mineral Grey M4 and always turn heads, looks a lot different than a normal 4 series. I drove a mineral grey 435i, but the M4 turns a lot more heads, especially other BMW drivers. The front end, hood, back and sides are very different, you won't be mistaken for a 4 series. Honestly think everyone notices the hood first.

I went to a private high school where some parents bought their kids nice brand new cars, the most expensive probably in the $60-70k range and this was late 90s. And one person in particular thought she deserved a brand new Mercedes SLK 250 becuase she studied hard and got good grades. Please. She was just spoiled. There with others with porsches, vettes, whatever, and they were rich and cool. And they thought they deserved it. One of them died crashing into a lightpole at over 100mph. http://articles.latimes.com/2001/apr/16/local/me-51604 So yes I'm all for "getting into cars" from a young age, but that doesn't need to happen with a new $70k car. And in fact, instant gratification will mean less appreciation in the long run if you don't have to work for it. What teenager in this world has earned a new M3? That being said, I vote AW.

Age is just a number. Skills are what matter. I've seen young kids who have terrific driving habits. Just depends. Hate to see all kids lumped into a "shouldn't drive these cars" bucket. There are a ton of adults with no business driving these cars either. I'm 39 and still have a lot of learning to do when it comes to driving any performance car to its potential. BTW... we are WAY off topic. Alpine White. |
