Cloth seats with a dog?
Hello all,
I currently have an F80 on order with cloth seats. I am also awaiting a Standard Poodle puppy around the same time that the car will be coming in. While I plan to use seat covers and pretty much doggy-proof the rear of the car (I am single and hardly anyone rides back there anyhow) I am concerned about the possibly of cleanup in the case of possible messes. Normally I don't even allow beverages aside from water or food in the car so when I placed the order I was never concerned about human accidents. Even with strict training and doggy-proofing I realize that there is a possibility something will happen. I was really excited about the cloth option but since cloth tends to absorb spills, leather might actually be more maintenance friendly with my new driving partner. Additionally, how long did it take you to teach your dog how to drive a manual transmission? How does sakhir orange leather look with silverstone? |

Since your dog doesn't shed, I wouldn't be too concerned. A shedding dog and dark cloth seats is an absolute nightmare. I use a hammock set up in the back seat like this and will likely do the same when my f80 arrives.

We have a four year old male black Standard Poodle that rides in the back of our M4 all the time. We have full leather, not cloth, but have had no problems. We use a cover that we got for our E46 M3. It does not fasten to the front seats, just to the rear deck and tucks into the back seat fold.

I bought the one fitted for the e90, f30, f80. I plan on putting grommets in for loops around the headrests. I'll let you know IF MY CAR EVER GETS HERE how it goes.

I bought this one for my E90 330 and it works awesome and looks even better. It has rubber on the underside if you ever use it in a car with leather to prevent sliding.

My full Kurgo dog proofing system:
Harness Seat cover Door cover It's all high quality compared to the generic stuff out there and the seat cover fits like a glove.

I'm beginning to look into such products seeing how the arrival of the M6 is creeping up on us, but I do have an 80 lb son (bulldog) I lug around from park to park He sheds a bit if I don't brush him daily, luckily he's white/brown

I've always had a dog or two, but this is a matter of hair. My detailer wants to shoot my jack Russell.
He told me never, ever get anything else but cloth to any car he goes into because the damn dog sheds so much and the leather makes getting it out really hard. The hair just floats around. No other dog I've ever had has been such a problem but I agree with the man. Someone with no lip please run over my dog.
