Life must be very dull without a sense of humor.

Is this a real question? The car has a rev limiter for a reason - i.e. as long as you don't rev it over the rev limiter (impossible on DCT, totally possible on a manual) the engine will be perfectly, 100% fine. With that being said, I would avoid revving it over 4k until the oil is up to temperature.

Most cars that live their life on Autobahn will frequently see cruising speeds above 4k rpm. All BMWs are built for such a life.

Um, what? Clearly, he's not talking about driving the Autobahn in 2nd or 3rd gear @ 60-70 mph. I understand the point made, but why would anyone do this at such low speeds?!?!

Other than on a track, though, why would you be doing this?
I do this with my 2006 325 on highways/roads for fun all the time - i.e. staying in 3-4 gear for some time (maybe 10+ min at a time). my car has 115K miles and no problems. I change oil regularly at 5-7Kmi, the rest of the maintenance per schedule or when needed (like brakes).

I am often surprised how pple often consider 100K miles as the end of life for a car and something that nobay has ever seen.
Another weird moment how pple in one thread say the BMW cars (especially Ms) are built for tough use, and in another thread they say certain RPM for prolong periods is causing issues or extra wear.

one man said that every man has their theory
