I don't believe so, I believe coding is only needed for installing on Pre-LCI F8X.

The darker lights are simple plug and play if you already have the LCI tails. I did this with my 16 M3 a while back and still love the darker look. Here's a side by side comparison with the CS lights on the passenger side

Edit: not sure why it's showing upside down, must be something with the app

Edit 2: Sorry, the upside down pic was bothering me so I cropped and rotated it correctly. Left (driver's side) is the original LCI taillights and right (passenger's side) are the euro CS / Shadowline lights

I think these are a nice mild upgrade but unless you can get them south of $1K, that's hard pill to swallow. They aren't $1,295 nice! Plus dubsesd blacked out the clear reverse light. That changes/completes the look on his.

I actually ordered mine from schmiedmann. They ended up being slightly less than ind. Simple plug and play as long as you already have the LCI tails

You can get them directly from Germany for even cheaper than schmiedmann. Send me a PM for more info.

The part numbers referenced in the first post are for the Shadowline tail lights, which in BMW parts usually show up as Blackline and aka CS tails. They came on some F30s with the shadowline package, but were not standard on any M3 yet (exception is likely the CS).

Below is a comparison of shadows vs. normal LCI. Also, here are a few pictures of my car with the shadowlines.

My impressions...when I first opened the box, I said "thats it?!" Then I installed on the car, and I couldn't tell much difference. After comparing side-by-side the difference is noticeable. On the car, the change is subtle and most people probably won't even notice the change. They aren't a super smoked blacked out light. The exception is night and low-light, where they look very nice and dark. I say all of this just to set expectations that they are a subtle change; however, they are exactly what I was looking for. Nice smokey look without looking like a murdered muscle car, darkens the rear end, but still keeps a red hue. Amber signals are a cool bonus (if you buy Euro spec lights).

These look really nice on dark Colored M’s. Dubs and yours for example. I’m not sure what the fascination is with amber singnals though... on every car I’ve owned I replace all amber bulbs. I like White and red singnals. Just me I guess 🤔

Looking forward to getting my set net week. Thinking on a lighter car YAS Marina, it will make a more noticeable aggressive change in the look

If your goal is just darker tail lights then tints/vinyl would accomplish this goal. You could definitely make it more dramatic and smoked out with a vinyl also if you are after a darker look (which can be killer on the right car).

The shadowline tails are a little different, because the lens is actually not smoked. It is the underneath parts of the light that are darker. So the light output from all lights is the same as normal. Also, tints/vinyl usually look modified, which can be a good look, but these look totally OEM and stock-ish.

So I think the shadowline has benefits over a regular smoked light, but if that is worth the extra cost is up to what your after. The difference is subtle, but to me was worth the more OEM style.

Cool!

So, there's an EU and US spec Shadowlines? Hmmm...I'll have to check local dealers to see if there are any F30s with this trim. I'm guessing the F30 trim is available in the US already?
