M4 Battery replacement/removal

Hi Guys,

Have anyone done a battery replacement on a F82 M4 yet? I'm asking cause I have to take out the battery and bring it inside the house to connect to a trickle charger.

This process was annoying as hell on my old e93 M3 and I always hated fiddling with the battery. Wanted to see if anyone else has done this on the M4 and if the process is same or "easier".

I store my cars for the winter here and I don't have a power outlet in the underground garage, so I have to go this route to keep the battery in working order for the six months or so.
thanks,
x

The verts are a bitch as you have have to remove all the plastic bits for the top.

The coupes and sedans are easy. Open up the cover on the back passenger side and you will see the mounts. Easy peasy.

So how are you going to open the trunk when it’s time to put the battery back?

Cool, don't have a vert so should be easy peasy then. Thx!

Plan is to leave the back seats down and crawl through and open the trunk from the inside. I think/hope there is one of those release trunk mechanisms inside, fk need to check that now

Ok at least you thought it through bcoz few people got caught and had to resort to fancy stuff to get to the trunk.

And yes there is a manual trunk release in our cars, make sure you try it and put your back seats down first. Anyways winter is still far w the amazing weather w are getting.

Keep in mind that the battery in the F82 M4 is Lithium Polymer, not Lead Acid. You need a special charger if you really want to keep it charged. You will damage the battery if you put it on a trickle charger designed for Lead Acid because it will over-charge the battery.
