That said, the only use I can see for that 6-tile view is to rearrange the tiles. In order to get any benefit from the "live" tiles, they need to be big enough to see. In the normal use mode, the navigation tile is actually (just) usable, but along with the entertainment tile and one other makes for a pretty busy screen. The square tile proportions fill the screen with 3 tiles, but with 6 tiles most of the screen is wasted space Some of the tiles don't show live updates (vehicle settings, connecteddrive) or don't show anything useful (communication shows which devices are connected and wireless signal strength, but signal strength shows up everywhere anyway). I'm not sure if the tiles update in the mode where they're all visible (because the detail is too small!), but it wouldn't make sense for this to happen since the purpose of this view is tile arrangement, not use while driving (thus the speedlock). You can arrange the tiles into two groups of 3, and that arrangement is saved in the Driver Profile. I have my personal preference and my wife has her own (wrong) preference for how they're arranged. One group is the default or home group, shown on start-up or with a single press of the middle button. You can, of course, move between groups with a right or left click of the iDrive controller and move right or left between tiles (and to the next group, if needed) by rotating the iDrive controller. I can get to whatever I want without taking my eyes off the road with a couple of clicks, though all of the hard buttons still work as labeled and for the most part correspond to the tiles. The main exception for me is the vehicle settings tile. I think for most M drivers it's likely most useful to group the entertainment, notifications, and navigation tiles together in one group, because those are probably the most pertinent while driving and the ones that update dynamically in a potentially-useful way. I only very rarely get notifications unless I've sent a destination to the car, so I have entertainment, connected, and navigation for my secondary group and communication, vehicle, and notifications for primary. The reason for having my most-used tiles as secondary is that it makes accessing the vehicle settings tile easy without looking.

I have tried today to code idrive 6 light but gut stuck with the same interface and the navigation asking for a activation code. I have reverted back to default factory coding and checked out the original HMI_VERSION and it says ID5.
It should be possible right? |

Previous posts shows you changing HMI_VERSION not HMI_ID_Version.

You can Code ID5 to ID6. If you have ID4, you cannot change it via Coding.

I have ID5, have resetted the NBT2 to default settings and hmi_version says id5 or does that doesn’t say anything?
But I changed hmi_id_version to id6 light and my navigation got locked and no changes in the interface. Does it need any more changes? Or should the interface changes automatic to id6 light? |

I saw at a dealership that the new entry screens on new cars have either the id5 or id6 (i don't know the difference really).
I have a 2015 F30 with the entry screen. Can I somehow get an update just to get that new interface? Is it really a completely different unit? |

Hmm. If I somehow got the entrynav2, is it possible to get carplay on it without any additional hardware? I mean, is it possible to activate carplay on the entrynav2? I only need carplay right now so I don't want to get the NBT EVO. If I can activate carplay on the entry evo, I can find one at a pretty cheap price as most people just want to get the nbt evo and sell their small screens dirt cheap.
