Question What about metal shavings in engine for 120 hours?

Since my thread was closed before I could answer (?), I am starting a new thread.

I live in LA, and the average speed is 10 mph. So it is going to take 120 hours to break in. It takes way too long

If I lived in Germany, I would be on the Autobahn and my average speed would be 120 mph, and only take 10 hours to break in.

So, it doesn't make sense to me. How can the break in period be 120 hours and also be 10 hours, depending on speed?

I'm a BMW technician. You should see the amount of metal that comes out of your diff at the 1,200 mile service.
This is my whole point. If there are metal shavings, isn't it bad to drive around for 120 hours? Shouldn't the service be done after 20 or 30 hours?

It's about mileage, not hours. Surely you will go more than 10mph at some point. If you can't ever go faster than 10mph in your car then I suggest walking instead.
