Why are pickup truck drivers challenging me to races?
Today was an "awakening" for me. WTF is up with pick up trucks wanting to race or drag me?
Never had this in the E90 M3, but in 2 hours between a Costco run, HEB and the bank I had 4 different trucks try and "race" me. There was one I gave a thought to - F150 Raptor - but blew it off. Good thing as there was Wilco Sheriff right over the rise and I got to see him pulled over. Regardless, do these douches really think their pick-up is going to win? Seriously, WTH? |

Our trucks are big : Personally I leave my speed runs to my M3 and my F150 is for hauling stuff.
It's not just you. In my SSII E90, I had people complement my color but never want to race. Now in my AW F80 ZCP, I have had many people feel the need to flex their 300hp muscles at stop lights. What is weird is it seams to only be Lexus drivers and older gentlemen in their 435's, 535's and the occasional X6. I have to admit, I 99% of the time I laugh it off and let them have a story to tell about smoking an M3 but...... there are some times and locations where I have lacked discipline. Usually let them get into second gear and then blow there doors off and shut it down on my shift into third. I do get a kick out of their stare downs at the first light and once they fought the losing battle they seam to develop a neck injury and can't look at me at the next light a few miles down the road.

I get it too. I'll never drag race, but my favorite thing to do is when a truck is tailgating me heading into a corner or turn is to take the turn hard (or normally for an M3!). Then it's like "hey, where did they go?".
Those fast trucks are dangerous in my opinion. What happens when they need to swerve out of way when going fast? They usually end up upside down.

my wife claims i suffer from this - where i think other cars are trying to race me. they aren't. you just think they are - or you notice it more because you think they're trying to. something like that |

I show people what's up all the time. It's not just trucks but all sorts of makes and models. I have difficulty with restraint when it comes to blowing away these suckers. The wifey just puts her seat back and I go to town Occasionally they will succumb to defeat and roll down their windows at a stop light after being smoked to compliment the M4.

Pick up trucks, mini vans and the Prius are usually the ones speeding, taking corners too fast and tailgating in my area. Can't figure out why it always seems to be them.

Yeah, it happens to me all the time with pick-up trucks and all sorts of cars. Gets old after a while. I'm like: dude, leave me alone already. Just trying to go or come back from work... It's like me harassing someone with a 911 Turbo S and thinking that I would win. Why even bother? |
