It`s really hard to make a judgement on the previous pics.

The E92 M3 was already a big car, the M4 is even bigger, I would like to know opinions about this by people who did see the car IRL.

Thanks for reply !
It looks more stretched to me, especially with the more fastback rear design.

I predict that the F80 M3, with its wide fenders (which look even more dramatically flared than the M4 in spy photos), will have a more muscular 'bulldog' stance, as you put it.

What I like most about the new M4 is that BMW have certainly investigated their market and all the styling mods (tastefully added) their customers have made previously and implemented subtle variants of these to the new model

I always felt that BMW fell short on brakes, exhaust and special seats for the m3. They have certainly addressed brakes and exhaust on the m4

I hope that option will provide for a real sport seat (like c63/black series) or previous BMW performance seat as a standard option to really set the M4 apart as a special car

Hope you're fine with me answering:

1.) There will be no M3 Concept.

2.) Yep, production M3 and production M4 will be shown at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2014.

Thanks Southlight! Great to hear from u after quite some time.

I've now been hearing the M3 may actually look more aggressive than the M4. If this is the case, then with 4 doors the M3 will sell like crazy...

I'm interested in either one of them and can't wait for production pics...

I remember being mentioned in this forum that M3 will come before M4. But it sounds like they will arrive at the same time? I like that.

I have to admit, now that we've seen the concept in real life, and not just a rendering, it does look better than I expected. I agree that it's a little too flashy and busy, especially in the rear, but it does look good. Minus that color. What a horrible color.... I love the idea of expanding the color pallet, but that color in particular.... just wow..... yuck

It was the original belief/rumor. Keep in mind that the M4 is coming almost a year closer to the 4 Series than the M3 ever did to the 3 Series coupe. So, although the 3/4 model split may very well have originally allowed for the M3 to arrive first, the accelerated M4 timeline means they arrive at the same time.

I really enjoyed this post. it's not that often that we get to hear your guys' (admin and moderators') opinions. being neutral goes hand I'm hand with being a mod, i suppose, so it's nice to hear you guys break role and tell us your impressions, likes and dislikes.

I agree with jason about the rear bumper. a little too busy for me. I much preferred the DRAWINGS of the rear. the nuanced differences in the drawings made it look good. on all other counts I agree with both jason and felix.

spectacular job on the coverage guys. I've probably visited the m4 thread about a hundred times since the debut. I'm addicted.

I have to agree with the above post. I really like how the moderators covered this topic and how they run bimmerpost in general. This is by far the best run site on the internet and I really enjoy checking it out numerous times day and night. I guess I am an addict, but I am proud of it and I don't need any rehab!

The accuracy of those specs is not known and they therefore cannot be validated. The author may be privy to insider information, but we cannot assume so.

A good chunk of the current M3 drivers are recently married/married with kids above 30, I just don't see that crowd driving this car over the current M3.
I am over 35 and I can't wait to put my wife and kid in the new m3 or maybe m4. The car looks awesome. So I respectfully disagree.

Also if people will laugh at you, I would say you need new people.

Nice review Jason and Felix! The M4 is a real winner, can't wait for specs and pricing to be released.

the catch phrase that accompanied the release read: "performance becomes electrifying". does this surreptiously reveal an electric motor or electrically driven turbo(as has been speculated) as part of the drivetrain?

That was Scott's catch phrase for the upcoming unveiling of the BMW i8. It's not related to the M4.

Best regards,

Would it be possible to make a comparison between the dimensions of;

E92 M3 vs F82 M4 vs F12 M6 ?

That would place the M4 more in perspective for a better judgement of it`s size IMO

That's a good idea. The problem is however that we don't know the exact dimensions of the F82 M4 yet.

Best regards,
south

Autoblog.com has just reported there will be no manual transmission. If true I fold, I'm out.
