What kind of winter tires do people have in Vancouver?
I was curious to see what kind of winter tires (if any) people are putting on their M3 or M4 in Vancouver? It is a tough decision in Vancouver because of the warm temperatures and little snow that we get. I have ordered a set of 255/35/19 Bridgestone Blizzak LM32 tires for my M3 but realistically they are overkill for 95% of the winter driving conditions in Vancouver. On the other hand I would not want to drive on the summer performance tires in Vancouver for those occasional cold winter days from December to February.

Would you actually need winter tires in Vancouver? As long as no snow sticks to the ground, you are golden??

Frequent trips to local mountains and whistler requires winter tires. Also then benefit of winters can be noticed even with just low temperatures and no snow.

I'm on the stockers still... But we have a ski trip to big white on Jan 29 that I'm going to driving up to so I'll be grabbing some snows pretty quickly. Unsure of exact ones yet, will probably be whatever I can find for a decent price that aren't hunks of crap.

just rent a van or suv for the trip. all the rock chips and salt will not be good for the car. unless its a lease and you don't care...

I own it but I am one of the very few who is determined to drive the ever living piss out of every vehicle I own.
When I can finally afford a new 911 Turbo it will be getting snow tires a roof pod and some serious time on the road as well. |

I take my M3 back and forth between Vancouver & Whistler pretty regularly during the winter ski season... Running Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60's in 255/40R-18 on the BMW OEM 513M wheels. Love the setup and go back to the 19's for spring, summer & fall.
