For those that haven't ordered their 2016 M3 yet-connected drive is now standard
For those that haven't ordered their 2016 M3 or M4 in Canada yet I am pretty sure connected drive now comes standard. The 2016 ordering guide that came out July 2015 has connected drive as a $500 option so I decided not to order it. I just got my car on the weekend and my M3 has all the connected drive components activated. If you haven't ordered your car yet save the $500 cost of connected drive and it will come anyways when you get your car.
By the way the M3 rocks!...........I will write a short review shortly |

I put a deposit down on a 2016 M4 two Fridays ago; I did not pay for ConnectedDrive services package. The interface is definitely included in my build, which I searched using an online BMW VIN decoder:
6AK CONNECTEDDRIVE SERVICES 6AM REAL TIME TRAFFIC INFORMATION 6AN CONCIERGE SERVICES 6AP REMOTE SERVICES 7S9 CONNECTEDDRIVE SERVICES PAKET I am not sure if the services will be provided on a trial basis though....I guess will wait and find out. |

I have had my car for 1 month now and am enjoying the real time traffic. The BMW remote app that allows me to send a destination from Google maps from my Samsung Galaxy 5 to my car for me to open up in the BMW navigation system is quite useful because I find the search function of the BMW nav not as good as google maps.
The BMW routing on the map and traffic information is also not as good as google maps on my Galaxy 5 but being that it was free I will take it. The online news also helps me kill time as I wait for the kids at their school :-) I will call BMW Canada this week to confirm how long the services are free for in my car. My sales advisor said something about these services being included in 2016 but I really didn't press him for details on it because my VIN check indicated that these were all built in to my car even though I didn't order them. |

Good to know, hopefully they sort this out for the MY2017 F82. I'm planning on getting an ED allocation for the Aug/Sept timeframe.
That and hopefully 4G LTE replaces 3G as the std communication hardware without needing to add 6NS. |

I just called BMW Canada today and they told me that BMW Connected Drive Services are free for 1 year and $199 per year after that. Services included with that include remote apps to lock your door and unlock your door, real time traffic, emergency request, stolen vehicle tracking, and sending map information from your phone to your car.
Maybe it is included now because they hope to make up the small cost of initial install on the annual $199 fee. I doubt that I would spend the $199 on it after the first year is up but who knows I do like the ability to send map info from my phone to my car. |

Hey so what about the customers that paid the $500 upfront? Does that mean they will be connected for an extended period of time without having to pay the annual fee of $199?

Hopefully you can call 1-800-567-2691 and they take care of you. Either a credit of $500 or they chalk it up as you pre-paid for connected drive services plan or whatever number of renewals. Call them and see what happens.

As of 2014 you don't pay the 199 fee. It's free for 10 years, at least mine is according to my contact. Everything is free for 10 years except the Internet. If you have bmw remote and you have it setup then you can send your car the gps coordinates

The 10 years free subscription is for the emergency call and BMW Assist. We have it on my five's X1 and we didn't order the connected drive.
