HUD Software update (UK)

I've seen pictures from our American friends who have had a software update for the HUD which changes the Rev colour from grey to blue making it easier to see, has anyone in the UK been told by their dealer that this upgrade is available or had it done?

If you "complain" about not being able to see the display properly, this should trigger the update being done under warranty. Some dealers will try it on, but if it's listed as a fix in their SIB, there should be no charge.

Thanks for the replies, I've been in touch with my dealer today and they're checking on the availability of the update.

I'll update as more info comes to hand.

Hi guys

I've been contacted today by my dealer and apparently they are not aware of any update for the HUD and they are asking me for a "software level number" from those UK owners who have had the update installed??

Does anyone have this info that I can pass on to them?

Thanks...

Many thanks to tom@eas and dmnc02 for the information regarding the HUD software level number I've been after.

Apparently, accordingly to my UK dealer the software number I've passed on to them is not recognised here!

If there is any UK M3/M4 owner who has had their HUD software updated recently to the new colours could they contact me via PM or post here with more details please.

Thanks...

Had the fully car coded several times by BMW about 4 weeks ago with the latest software due to a faulty headlight, but I cant remember seeing any changes to the HUD.
Unfortunately I won't get to see my car for nearly 2 weeks so I cant check right now.

Lloyd BMW Newcastle were somewhat confused. They said it wasn't available in the UK but also said they'd never heard of it.

IF this helps, I have taken delivery of the LCI on the 2nd September, the HUD is the clearer , easy to see in bright colours.

I recently encountered the same problem when took my car for service and requested the HUD to be updated. I ended up having to show them pictures of the updated HUD and they agreed to look into it. They ended up starting a PUMA case with BMW which taught them how to do it. According to my work order sheet, the entire car was reprogrammed and not just the HUD module.

Hope this helps.

Yep, to confirm i have a July'15 M4 and mine came with the newer HUD colours as standard. Maybe go look at one in their showroom, this should have the latest and you can show them first hand the difference?

This just in from my dealer!

"The software can only be updated for HUD at present for US vehicles only.

US vehicles have a different vehicle order and specification which involves different software.

Unfortunately I am unable to find out if BMW UK will create a software patch which will include this function in the future"
