Frankly I don't care about the way the car measures to the M5 in acceleration (who will do that kind of measure anyway in real life).

I just don't get it when people nit pick about factory accelaration time and compare cars and brands just based on that (0-60 is the perfect example of this stupid thing). Cars and especially sports cars should be judged not only by the way they accelerate, but their handling, braking and overall feel good factor (the way they talk to you when you drive her in an analogue way and not digitalised like so many performance cars nowadays)

So about the M3/4 vs M5, what I care about is how the car will feel handling wise compared to the M5, which has become waaaaaay to heavy!

I can understand why the sedan would be considered to be the more feminine of the two, and deserving of the feminine tag "die", but why isn't the M4 not "Der neue M4" instead of the neutral "das"?

Perhaps BMW should be alerted to its faulty use of German?
It's generally the word itself that is gendered and not the object that the word is. It's "das neue BMW M4 Coupe" because Coupe is neuter.

das Coupe (neuter noun)
die Limousine (feminine noun)

der BMW = car (masculine noun)
die BMW = motorcycle (feminine noun)

Mark Twain had some things to say about the German language

Anyway. Car looks great and I can't wait to see one in person.

I was simply referencing the M5 data as a point of reference - no nitpicking intended whatsoever... I've already decided on the F80 M3 regardless and I have no doubt I'm going to love it regardless of how the exact performance specs shake out during the numerous magazine reviews that will be coming in the next few months...

No worries. I have a feeling that the new M3/4 will be a torque monster (poweslide galore) and will feel very light on her feet, like the e46! I just hope she still keeps her urge to find the redline...

I care about all of the M attributes and real life acceleration at varying speeds is one of them . When I am on the autobahn and coming into a derestricted zone I want to know if I should move out of the way of that M5 behind me or give it the beans!!

High speed stability and acceleration may not be important to you but to many it is important depending on where you live and the different scenarios in which you will drive the car.

My car will be seeing 130 mph + speeds almost daily and how it accelerates to these speeds is very important to me.

Individual Options/Codes.

I stumbled upon these. They are specific for the M3/M4 so I thought this might help with those that are waiting to be able to utilize the Individual program. I have heard early July is when the Individual items can be ordered, but I have an inquiry to a close friend there that will be able to confirm.
Thanks,
Chris

Individual choices

Nice - I'd love one of the brown leathers, but don't want to wait and pay thousands for the privilege. Still, I am having my CA check.

Whoa. Well, if these were the additional options available by the Individual program, I'd love to adjust my colors. If that apparently means that I will get my ///M later... I would regret it as much as I regret it currently to not have the additional choices.
Well, lets see when BMW maves its move, maybe it is still early enough (which I highly doubt).

If yes, most likely:
- Azurite Black Metallic
- full black with silverstone stitching

We will likely have to pay through the nose for the privilege of getting decent colors, along with the delay.

13 years of studying this language, and this is my input. They love messing with the heads of foreigners. I do have to say, that I love that language, and I have to find a forum on that too now.

Der Die und Das do what they want, and partner up as they wish, never to be separated.

Unfortunately, there isn't really a rule for this, so when people start learning German they have to learn the respective pronoun as well. And yea, BMW got it right, it's das Coupé and die Limousine.

Best regards,
south

A point my old teacher did not mention for the first 3 years of trying to make sense of this. Oh well, at least I can still read a manual if needed.
