Will I have issues trying to get up this steep garage driveway?
Hey guys, thinking of moving into this new place in NYC (Carroll Gardens), I was wondering if the steepness of the road to the exit would be problematic for an M4 at stock height?
Apologies for quality of the pic, didn't think to take a pic myself but grabbed this from the listing. The entrance is quite narrow so no way to go at it with an angle - just head on. |

Hard to tell from the pic but I'm sure it's a double wide exit/entrance. Exiting the garage would be fine since you'll always be able to angle it at the steepest point. Entering the garage you might encounter issues since you won't be able to angle it enough. You'll probably make it but not without scraping even at stock height without lip.

Thanks guys for the reassurances, real close on moving ahead with the place
Thanks, but yeah NYC is actually five boroughs, and carrol gardens is in Brooklyn, and Queens is another borough. A lot of people mistakenly think Manhattan is only NYC. |

If it's stock you won't have any problem.
First time I testdrove an M4 the dealership kept it in a really steep ramp and I was amazed how it didn't scrape at all. My old e92 would have to call a tow truck to get it out of there. I have a love/hate relationship with the ugly front gap. |

Been there done this.
I agree with the poster above. My old 2013 E92 would scrape in a ton of places where my M4 does not. SO you might be in luck. I moved to San Francisco last year and had a ** very ** tough time getting a single family house with garage that worked. The challenge was... the Porsche (and now M4) cannot scrape, but a Range Rover w/ a goddamned roof rack that sticks up about 5.5" off the roof has to fit as well. I don't know if you've ever seen most of the SF houses, but the driveways are at ridiculous angles, and I don't even know how Model T's fit in half the garages back in the day. You see some very clever car parking in driveways around older parts of town. So I feel your pain. Best thing. Bring your car (or all of them) and test it out. NOTHING worse than renting a place and realizing that you can't get in the garage without damaging your car(s).. IE do **NOT** sign a lease until you bring your car out with a spotter and try it. I almost got dumped by my better half for refusing a house in a very posh neighborhood because garage slope. |

Fun fact - Marble Hill is part of Manhattan not Bronx. https://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/18/n...manhattan.html

just don't plan on buying any sports car or lowering your M3 while there.

Test it out with your car, that's the only way to know for sure.

Unless you're a foreigner, at which point your statement is forgivable. FYI: Brooklyn is less affordable to live in than Manhattan. FYI: Actual New Yorkers primarily live in the other 4 boroughs. |

As an ex-Queens resident, I think it's whether you lived or are in the boroughs.
If you live/lived in the boroughs/North NJ, NYC is Manhattan. If you live anywhere else, NYC is all 5 boroughs. You wouldn't catch me saying LI is NYC... |
