Are you happy with the moonroof choice? I like the CF roof, but I always use my sunroof in any car that has one.

Thanks! It's a stunning color.

Here's one of the shots I bought from some of the photographers at the Ring that day. I'll post more as they become available.

I hadn't taken any instructions... just drove 3 hours to the track (in rain) got to the bone dry track and drove 4 laps, then another 2 hours to Heidelberg where I stayed the night...

Lap (1) Learned what the Nurburgring Ring is. (I was not smart enough to watch videos or look at a map ahead of time)

Lap (2) Realize I have much to learn still... (Grateful that I check the box for the CCB's)

Lap (3) Follow others more experienced.

Lap (4) Pass others.

I love the moonroof:

1) Never had one and always wanted one
2) Great to get more light in the dark interior
3) Turned out to be a great location for one of my (2) go-pro setups to get the cabin view of the Ring laps.
4) Yas is a 'different' color than others and having the roof in the same color, makes more of statement IMO.
5) I crack the moonroof open a lot of the time for fresh air.
6) I would make the same choice if I were ordering again.

Hope that helps!

My BMW Driving Experience trainer discussed the M compound brakes vs CCB that BMW M uses in Germany for the track training programs last week with me. All of the Driving Experience M cars use the standard M compound brakes with the BMW Performance Brake Pads inserts. The CCB are indicated for hot environments like Thermal. The M4's that BMW M provided when I did my Ring training 4 years ago had the standard M compound brakes. But, CCB looks great with YAS.

How much were the Ring photographers charging per picture as I was stuck in traffic and never made it to the Ring, probably was a good thing as I had only 450 miles on the car.

Great point! I was not aware that they used the M compound Brakes for the Driving Experience (which I do think they are more than enough). However, testing a 80+k car 1 week after ownership, the CCB's gave me piece of mind mentally, even if the M compound Brakes would have preformed just as well.

I was fortunate enough to get my 1st service (oil, filters, and power limiter raised) the day before I went to the Ring. Yas, I drove 1,391 miles in the first week

I agree, the CCB's with Yas is a great combo

The photographers were independent persons that take pics of drivers on the track daily. I found a link where they list their own websites. Photos can be purchased after the visit. I figured there would be someone taking pics for sale but after a quick google search found the main link:

https://www.ringportal.nl/en/photography

Photo cost range by photographer I think, in the range of 5 to 10 euros each.

Attached are pictures of the M fleet at the BMW Academy Maisach- There were M3?s with CCB, but BMW of Sweden rented these vehicles for their track session.

One thing I would do different next time is have one facing back. Though I planned to do that, I figured it wouldn't be interesting... but pulling away from nearly every thing behind me, on a straight way was something to behold... this this has so much low end torque
Here is link: http://www.seydi.cc/page/down/126.php worked well. Also, when you use their viewer there is a map and other info included. Was great watching the video when on Mtn. passes, showing all the crazy switchbacks.

You are a brave man to do the ring without an instructor. I was very pleased to have him next to me guiding me along the way plus looking out for passing vehicles. But glad we both made it out alive. Truly an unforgettable experience.

Sorry for hijacking this thread but I'm getting ready to post my own ED trip report and had a question about how people are embedding photos like this into their reports. Are you uploading them to some hosting site e.g. Imgur and then embedding the link in your post here? Thanks!

No worries, look forward to seeing your images. Here are the steps I take:

1) write the text in your reply
2) place the cursor where you want the image to go
3) click on the "paperclip" logo, which is the image attachment logo in the above icons
4) upload an image (please note that the image can't be too large. I have a mac and open the image in Preview, then scale it so that the longer side is 12" at 72 dpi.
5) after you upload the image, go back to your reply post and click on the 'paperclip icon' the uploaded image should be a selection there.
6) submit reply

I prefer using Imgur BBcode.

Yas is state side!!!

Any free time I used to have is officially gone.

Pics to come this weekend once I can get her a bit cleaned up. They left all the shipping tags, stickers and such on it (just the way I like it).

8 days from docking at port to redelivery....8 tremendously long days.

(I didn't have any port side mods to be installed, and the Galveston intake/customs facility is pretty new... not even 2 years old)

All that is in the past now!

Wow it took that long because it was an ED car. Damn I hope it doesn't take that long here. Our car is supposed to arrive 12/2 but we are moving to Dallas on the 16/17 of December so really hoping to have it in our hands before hand.

I know there are a lot of variables: if there was any damage that needs to repaired, customs if ED, carrier availability , full truckload, etc. Hoping it works out for you.
