Nice write up. I think the F80 looks great in every color. I'm still warming up to the F82 but still need to see both in person. I felt the same way about the E90 vs E92 until I saw them in person and then felt the opposite (still love them both though).

Great post. Looks like you didn't waste a single minute there ;]
Unfortunately Mineral Gray M4 never makes it to the pictures... But then at least the interior I chose is here You wouldn't happen to have some more pictures with a MG M4?

What a great experience, I envy you. I am happy to hear from several folks that the M3 and the M4 drive essentially identically which means you really can't go wrong either way, the problem for me is it makes my decision even harder. I continue to be divided on which to go with, slight edge to the M3 due to an advantage of practicality but I wonder if I really need 4 doors. Decisions decisions.

I agree Sakhir Orange looks great. It will also look good on M3. Few days ago I saw a SO M5, man that was something

how does the f80 compare to the e92 on the track?
OP, it sounds like you have tracked your e92. curious to know, what was missing in the f80? you mention the sound was lacking on the outside, that could be fixed with an aftermarket exhaust. Is there anything else that is lacking in the f80? example: throttle response, steering feel, overall driver satisfaction (which car requires more driver involvement)?
As a current e90 m3 zcp owner, i find the car to be nearly perfect as a daily driver and track weapon. Very interested to get your opinion on the above questions.

Colors, colors, colors...
OP, -
thanks for some of the best photos I've seen of Sakhir Orange(SO). It pretty much cemented my exterior color decision, within the four M colors available, for my F80 order.

I just landed from the same experience in Istanbul.
However, I flew in this morning, reached at 6:30am and straight to the W hotel. Then, I joined the bus to the track and left again on the same day. Was worth it for one day. The brakes on the cars were the most impresssive. There was no fade whatsoever! I need to try my car with the conventional brakes and compare. And, the oil temps stays cool all day. Very very impressive. Will post some pics later. |

The only concerns I have are whether the carbon ceramics are fully covered under warranty replacement (guess we will see over the coming year) and if there are any software gremlins over years 1-2 (which there can often be). Again, that happened to me while on track with a power loss for a couple of seconds, and not sure why it happened but it never happened again and no one else had this issue. So again, that was probably just a glitch. |
