Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

I must admit, they do sound similar. Hopefully they'll sound 'slightly better' in person than in the videos that have been posted so far. Besides, this wouldn't be the first time that BMW has released an 'ugly' sounding exhaust (i.e. E46 M3). Give it a year and most people will have warmed up to it. |

Sounds like for the first half of the video it was bouncing off the (cold engine) rev limiter.
Either way, sounds like crap. I'm at a loss for words. The clearer the picture becomes, the uglier it gets. We have a trove of bad sounding clips at this point. It's not a one off bad recording. I'm budgeting some money for an Akrapovic before I even buy mine. What a downer. |

The latter part of the video was most likely higher than 3k, and there appears to be no rev limiting.

Strange that's people are still getting worked up over these videos at idle.
Has there been even one person who's actually seen/heard the car driving who hasn't said the car sounded good or very good? |

That was definitely not idle...it didn't sound like 7k rpm either, but regardless that exhaust sounds kind of ricer-like.....or not good.

amen, M3's have always sounded like this or similar. The muscle V8 era was short lived, i loved it, but it has never been what this particular model has been about.
MG looks great. Might have to rethink the SO again. |
