The wait, the work, anticipation, etc, seemed very emotional this time like you mentioned, and I've gone through this two other times. PM me when your balling your head off, lol. Congrats.

What a nice thread.
I recently realized my dream as well. While my ED trip wasn't "perfect" (closed passes, lots of rain, etc.), it was the most incredible thing I've ever done, and with a lot of luck, I was still able to realize my childhood dream of driving the Nurburgring. For me, I had a rough go of things 5 or so years ago, and I decided to turn things around. The car and the trip were a symbol of what I'd been able to accomplish (changing careers, bouncing back from a bad divorce). This was a time in my life when I could do this, so I did it. Things come up in life, and you never know if you'll get a second chance. I know that the experiences I had on my trip are experiences I'll take to the grave. I'd love to live in a world where everyone could feel the way I felt for those two weeks. Congratulations on deciding not to wait for life to happen.

Hah, you know nothing about the pain and misery that will ensue. I finished my ED 10 weeks ago, and THIS is what I look at like every 20 minutes now. . . It's gonna pull into port in like 4 hours finally!

Congrats
And it is not corny at all. Reading your post just reminded me how I felt when I got my first M3 (an E46 13 years ago) . Enjoy in good health . |

There are a few of us NC people on here. Since C&C moved from Waverly, it has really grown, as the Grande has a lot more parking available. The only downside, there isn't a Chick-fil-A across the street from the Grande.

Let me know when you start dialing the 1800 number (its more accurate and timely until the car leaves port). I had the number programmed into my phone with the production number so I didn't even have to speak at the prompts. Tracking experience from Best to worst (for me) Getting on a boat Getting into the body shop Tracking the boat Waiting for production to start Waiting at the port of entry Waiting for a boat at port of exit Also you can bypass the automated system and speak directly with BMW NA. If you get a compassionate rep, they can give you the most up to date info. Same goes for your CA. Congrats on the car |

Oh we all need to get a grip but where's the passion in that. Try and imagine my dance with insanity as I have postponed my plans so as to do ED (on any other forum ED would get a big chuckle) with my wife in July so late Sept is the soonest I'll see my F80 in the garage! In the meantime I am "nesting" as @chiplee would say (a complete garage remodel) to welcome the dream home when she arrives from my PCD redelivery that I also have planed. I grew up in western NC so that will also a bit of a homecoming for me.

My M3 is about two weeks from backing into the new garage. You won't regret anything about the garage remodel. Looking forward to a full update with pics.

Thank you. That was exactly the way i was thinking. Cause i had planned on waiting till my 32nd birthday which would have been October 20 2015. But when i saw that i could do it i didn't hesitate. It brought me back to when i was at another dealership. I had bumped into an older gentleman had to be in late 50s early 60s. He was looking at his dream car as well. Was a Porsche 911 turbo. He explained to me reason why he was buying his dream car that day and wasn't going to wait any longer. Before that day about a year or more ago he had a heart transplant and wasn't expected to live. He said before the transplant he had been saving and doubting his time on earth and kept putting it off. Then to realize that he could never wake up again and not at least drive even for a short time his dream; that he would have lived his life for nothing. Those words changed my life and thinking. I congratulated the gentlemen felt overwhelmed with joy when he drove off the lot. As i can see he was as well in tears as he started up the car along with half the dealership. A honest hardworking man form all the talks. just kept running into bad luck. But his life changed for the best and now hes living the rest of his life. His words to me were simple."If you have the opportunity to live your dream; do it. time inst guaranteed and so is life." Sorry for the long speech i am off my soapbox now lol |
