BMW Build Delays

My car was ordered on the 8th of December and has still not gone into production. It is scheduled for daily build but still nothing. I called and they said it will most likely be week 9!!! Anyone else in a similar situation? Another rep recently said they are having production issues with not enough parts on the X6 but who knows what's true and what isnt.

Ordered in August and was week 33, then week 49 and then 4th week. Found another dealer with the same build except colors and it is already in paint shop. My point is that I never stopped looking around the country for what I wanted and found a dealer to make it happen. I learned that there are few M3's out there and even less with CF roofs

Originally ordered an M4 in mid-November on a dealer allocated production slot.
Original build date was week 2.
It later got pushed out to week 5, then six and then no confidence it would even be built in February.
Eventually bought an M3 from my dealer's showroom floor.

A lot of orders are getting pushed back due to shortages of various parts such as CF roof or CCB.

week 49 pushed to week 6 now week 9. Unbeleivable that there's a 2.5 month delay. If they had a set number of Ms going to dealers I don't see who they could mess up so bad.

I have my deposit check dated 7/5/14, and the car was promised the middle of August. The dealer told me in September my build date was like Oct 20th. I got the car the week of Thanksgiving. I'm not at all happy with BMW.

its a shortage/problem with the carbon fiber roofs. I ordered my M3 (moonroof) on Dec 29, confirmed build date on Jan 20.

My week 36 was pushed back every week for almost 5 times. Once they told me it was going to be week 6 of 2015. I took my deposit back right away. There's more than handful of people just by this forum going thru the same thing. Just search for one online. And if it's far just have them transport the car to you, should run you a few hundred bucks. But definitely worth it, you never know when is BMW going to push your order back again.

My car was accepted at BMW AG on APRIL 2, 2014. It did not go into production until September and I received the car at my dealership on October 9, 2014. So relax.

2 or 3 months too long to wait ?
Gee, I had to wait 9 months for a E90 325i and the factory is just 1,5 hours away.
How many here would order a Ferrari if I told you the waiting period locally is 18+ Months

F80/F82 is selling very well worldwide so few production slots are available.
Also watch for dealers selling your slot to someone else and bumping you to a later one
CFRP roof production delays were also announced on the board back in September http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1035140

It's less about the wait and more about the delays. If you order in July and told build was for August and then gets pushed in to Dec/Jan, that's a problem. Ferrari always has long wait lists and its mostly artificial. People go into that with their eyes open. Not sure why you had to wait 9 months, but in the US we are not accustomed to waiting this long for a mass market vehicle (call us spoiled).

I do agree about the delays being announced on the board. My CA even let me know about it. I think either their were unexpected CF roof production issues or BMW completely whiffed on how popular the car was going to be along with the i cars which us carbon fiber.

Good news is BMW is saying March/April time frame to be caught up.

Agree about ED. It forces BMW's hand and you don't have the same delays. ED gets you to the front of the line.
