I keep it in my pocket. If you have your phone on the seat or in the cup holder and you get into an accident you may not be able to reach it. Also no temptation to text etc.

I may be the minority here, but I don't like using magnet holders.
I use this instead: https://bimmian.com/Accessories-for-...Phone-Holders/ The CD player is no longer in use, so mounting it the makes sense and it doesn't block view of the iDrive. It's sturdy, and any phone can be held! Sometimes I use my wife's phone to navigate, sister in law's, etc. So it's nice to have added flexibility. Just personal preference I suppose! |

I put my 7 Plus on the tray that they used to give you to cover the cup holders. Then I put my S7 Edge on Vent Gripz mount. Yeah it should be the other way around but who cares~

When I don't have a passenger, I tend to click the passenger knee bolster out one click and slide my phone in the resulting slot sideways.
For long drives when I want to leave the phone charging and keep it out of the way, I have a folded microfiber cloth on top of the wireless charger and a retractable Lightning cable in the USB outlet. My 6s + fits fine with the armrest closed. The "oddments tray"? That's no longer supplied with new cars, and I do like to put a cup in my cupholder occasionally.

The best looking, most convenient and most hassle-free setup I've been using for the past 3 BMWs I've had:
20170201 - Interior - IMG_8803_100 by JMG, on Flickr 20170201 - Interior - IMG_8787_100 by JMG, on Flickr Kuda mount with a Proclip cradle. The cradle rotates for landscape and has a built in lightning port for one hand drop in and instant power. No fumbling for some loose wire in your cabin.

I usually keep mine in between the hand brake and the centre console, since it's usually plugged in to charge and if I leave it in my pocket I'll forget about it and rip the USB cable apart lol

Me too, and I routed the charging/data cable from the center console USB port, under the parking brake boot, under the iDrive console housing and into the left cup holder by drilling a few 3/8" inconspicuous holes. Now my phone sits and charges in the cupholder which rarely has more than one drink in it.
