Apple CarPlay Issues w IOS 11

Anyone else having issues with CarPlay under iOS 11? I can only get music to stream about 10% of the time. Affects both my library and Amazon music. I am so annoyed with CarPlay. So buggy, even when it works

I HATE CarPlay and say so every chance I get!!! Just get rid of it and use iDrive. iDrive + Siri (By holding the voice command button down) can do almost everything CarPlay can.

The car play experience in our cars isn’t great. I wonder if it is because it’s a wireless connection. The car play experience in my Raptor is leagues better. It has an actual touch screen so you can swipe and tap just like an iPhone. It also doesn’t stutter and lag like the BMW but it is a wired connection. I haven’t noticed anything different about iOS 11 and the functionality in my F80.

Mine works most of the time, but I am using Google music. There were some quirks with the GUI but that seems to have been fixed now.

It's not just iOS 11, it's iOS anything. CarPlay blows, and BMW's system blows it out of the water from every perspective.

Hopefully carplay is an updatable feature... meaning they can get an iOS 2 of it that actually works

I'm also experiencing issues with CarPlay since i upgraded my phone to iOS 11. All sorts of issues playing music with Spotify. it's hit and miss at the moment. There was an update i downloaded today. Hoping it corrects some of these glitches soon...becoming unusable!

I actually emailed BMW after paying the $300 for carplay and told them how unhappy I was with it, they refunded my money just based on the email request.

Since getting my new iPhone X, the experience has been pretty reasonable. It seems to connect reliably when I get into the car, and the iDrive knob is responsive. Siri works as well, but regular Siri quirks hinder usability - I'm not sure that's a CarPlay complaint specifically.

I had plenty of issues with my iPhone 5s/CarPlay - but that was a 4 year old phone. I have a feeling Apple makes their older devices running newer iOS versions nearly unusable.

That's hilarious and sucks. I didn't know they could remove an FSC, but it doesn't surprise me.

I did have a brand new X3 as a loaner a month or so ago, and found that the wireless CarPlay seemed to work fairly well. I don't think I'd use it (fairly limited) if I had it ? but I'd probably option it for $300. Though it should be standard equipment.

Just get some rubbing alcohol and use a microfiber cloth to remove those decals. I took mine off my sun visors in about 5 minutes (easier if you first remove the visors).

I have a new BMW 2018 440i and CarPlay with my iPhone 6S 11.2.6 seems to work fine for all things you might think of - navigation, siri commands, texting, phone, etc. - at first when Amazon Music was announced it worked fine on CarPlay but now it can't get started - it just gives me a sorry error message and can't load any menus. the application works fine on iPhone without CarPlay so it's just having issues running under CarPlay that it didn't have before.

I have a new BMW 2018 440i and CarPlay with my iPhone 6S 11.2.6 - the split screen I'm using has the apple screen on left and the weather channel on right. About 50% of the time the right screen - the weather channel goes blank.

The weather app on mine doesn't work sometimes too. Some server issue or something.

CarPlay with iOS 11.2 runs fine on my iPhone 8+ with music stored on the phone. I haven’t tried any streaming music in anger yet, Amazon or Tidal. I have a 2018 M3 with touchscreen iDrive. I found Siri dictation with WhatsApp pretty good, not 100% accurate but good for sending quick messages.

Never had any issue on my iPhone X with iOS 11.2.6 and now I upgraded to iOS 11.3 and it's even better. In terms of battery life for the phone and OS snappiness that is.
