iDrive upgrade possible?

Hi

Just recently bought my Austin Yellow m4. Its a 2015. Is there anyway to upgrade to a newer version of idrive and if so how do i do it? i see there is an upgrade option in the idrive settings.

My Wife has a 2016 x4 and her idrive home menu has 4 or 5 tiles. Is this possible on my car.

I've been looking into this as well. I have a late '14 build with iD4 (NBT head unit). My understanding is that a newer head unit (NBT EVO) needs to be installed but I'm totally unsure if this is a plug and play procedure. I know it will need some extensive coding done to make it work correctly.

You buy a 2017 or 2018. The amount of money in hardware you have to put in, and then 'getting it to work' with software is probably not worth the benefits.

There will be those that will do it, but I don't think for very much less than $3,000 plus whatever time they have exhausted doing so.

I have a mid 2016 production date, with an NBT_Evo although I have ID4. I was told that the older NBT_Evo only have 2 gigs of ram and will not run ID5. Although I would love to upgrade to ID5 - ID6 lite.
