scratching windows or window coating
Been using Chemical Guys Streak free on my windows with a waffle weave cloth after washing the car.. and I’ve noticed some scratching on the windows in certain areas. Anyone know of a better product or technique?

I think your towels are just dirty.

I mean I suppose I can try that, but it’s just weird. I mean it’s a specialized product from a reputable company.. you know? Another point the waffle weaves are also the red ones from chemical guys. |

I switched to using gyeon panel prep for window and microfiber. Waffle weaves are great but with the panel prep it is streak free so I prefer a softer microfiber.

Yeah that looks good for boosting some ceramic coatings or adding some gloss, but I’m actually trying to clean the windows from anything that the pressure washer didn’t get off.

Negative. It’s an isopropyl alcohol based prep spray to remove left over waxes after paint correction. Gets off kids greasy fingerprints, ask me how I know. It also evaporates easily, doesn’t require much product and is streak free. Panel prep is just that, prepping the surface so ceramics will adhere better by removing almost anything on the surface.

Settle down, little lady. You’ll need all that energy to clean those filthy rags of yours. Everyone agrees that the product isn’t the issue. Please don’t spread FUD about a very reputable brand because of your own issues

lol this forum cracks me up some times.
OP try soaking these: https://www.amazon.com/AAwipes-Clean...zcF9hdGY&psc=1 in isopropal alcohol, and cleaning the felt at the top of the door on both sides of the widow. Then keep your greasy mits off the glass. |

use rinseless wash
you must be doing a poor job either washing your towels or washing your car if there’s leftover debris big enough to cause scratches on glass i would look at your wash technique, make sure your towels are clean , and use rinseless wash as your glass cleaning agent (i use rinseless wash in general so i don’t have to go over my windows twice ) |

Maybe it’s the tags on the rags? I just ripped them off. It’s possible the scratches were there before I bought the car. I just noticed them and figured it was something I did.

I dont remember where i saw that at but it works may have to give it a few passes.
just put the windows down. stick the soaked on either side of the window and go form end to end a few times rinse and repeat until clean then i let it sit for a few so the IPA can dry before rolling the windows up. Last edited by snakes1021; 08-10-2023 at 09:30 PM.. |

rinseless doesn’t streak on glass and encapsulates any debris that could potentially cause scratching but again, there’s something wrong with your wash process or your glass cleaning towels, there shouldn’t be that much debris if you are going back to finish off the windows and incurring scratching |

if you have young kids, it’s usually from the young kids banging around on the inside of the car and nicking the tint, ask me how i know 😂 |
