If you can't see the value in the newer m3, no worries. Maybe move on instead of repeating the same negativity over an over here. You don't see me or anyone else trolling m3post arguing with those who love their e9x, which is still a great car btw.

Regardless, no reason to discuss any of this with you further.
Wow, you sir, have just gone full retard, and you should never go full retard. My issues with EPS aside, I am hardly "not seeing value in the newer M3". I've reiterated multiple times to you now that there is more to recommend the car than just raw speed, which you somehow took as an affront to your holiest of holies. I guess being patient with the apparent deaf, blind and dumb is trolling now.

More like when there's a bad review everyone in this forum bashes the reviewer not the car. Case in point steve sutcliffe, once his m3 review came out steve went from brilliant journalist to a no good fat waste of space.

Same. I saw it available but was being a good employee and waited until I got home to check it out. No dice.

Who reported it and spoiled the fun?.

My favorite thing about the last 2 generations of m3 (e46 and e9x) is that they both have and I believe will continue to age well. They aren't too flashy or overstated in the looks department. Sure the newest model is going to be faster and better in a lot of respects, but I also thinks it doesn't take anything away from the previous generations. I own an e92 m3 and the e46 still turns my head to this day, and I'm sure it will continue to. There are a lot of things to like and admire about all m3 generations when put into perspective and context.

I watched this video last night and was pleasantly surprised how much CH shares my views on the F80. Like him I also owned a V8 M3 a couple of years back. Mine was a competition pack car.

First the steering. There is so much debate on this and I for one prefer the new steering. I don't know how people define feel, because I think everyone has a different way of describing feel. As long as it isn't artificial (ever driven a Camry?) then I'm ok with it. What I do prefer of the F80 is that is feels more accurate than the previous gen, partly I think because of the sharper front end as highlighted by CH. I like it as much as the steering on my 981S Boxster and Cayman. Different, but just as good.

The new car is also a much better car than the old one on the road. I don't know why everyone has suddenly forgotten about the lack of low down torque of the old car. You used to hear all the owners saying how they wished there is more low down torque for around town driving. Some even supercharged their engines to achieve this mean. Now the factory has given us the solution out of the box, and suddenly people are complaining that it doesn't have the character or high end power that the old unit used to have. Give me a break, how often do you guys drive the V8 M3 at more than 6500rpm? Yes would need to get up there in the rev range for it to feel anywhere as potent as the new car at a modest rpm. I have also owned two C63s and I actually think the F80 engine feels more like the big donk V8 in the AMGs.

As for Drive+, I think we should all support them. It's $4 a month ffs. The alternative of not doing this is that they go bust and we never see videos like these again. Which is the better alternative I ask? There is also an awesome Sharkwerks video on their RS on there that is worth watching. I'm a long time Porsche owner and seeing that made my hair stand. The sound on those Sharkwerks engines!

On at rate, good stuff
SS is a very good reviewer as we all know. Certainly up there with CH. But they like different things as you do as individuals. I've read and watched these guys closely over the years and I think SS prefers a more stable car, with grippier rear end. CH, maybe because of his racing experiences, likes a more lively car. He doesn't mind them if they are a handful, and I think that is SS's big criticism of the M3. Watch the M3 vs D3 clip and you will see what I'm talking about. From that it was clear how much more of a handful the M3 is because of the sharper front end and the way the diff works (watch the in car footage between D3 and M3) and I think that puts SS off. He prefers more progressive feel, which the C63 also shares that type of trait.

Because there really is no comparison. In the E92, some people say 335s are better because you feel the low down torque, and with a tune it will outrun the M3 in a straight line up to certain speed. But that is no longer the case. M3/4 is in every way better than 435i. That comparison is no longer valid (not that it was in the E92 IMO anyway but that is another argument to be had).

I feel the E92 quickness is just right and the F82 was a tad too slow. But then I didn't get the F82 sideways like Mr. Harris does.

Still, and I've maintained this opinion throughout, the F82 is better in almost every way then the E92 M3, save for sound. It's not bad, just not as good as the tone of the S65 V8. I like how Chris characterizes this as being a little disappointing at first but it grew on him. I had the same experience with the E46 M3: I felt a bit disappointed with its raspy tone at first, but grew to love it. Maybe I could grow to love the sound of the F82. I will admit that it does have character. Much more than a turbo diesel.

Cheers.

there was much more to it. first he picked the C63 507 over the M3 for subjective reasons (sounded more aggressive, etc.) as well as having better steering. the M bested it in every other category. now, aside from the fact that the 507 is a $90k+ optioned C63, putting it in another category price-wise, he's entitled to his opinion. he chose the C63 for mostly subjective and emotional reasons - totally his prerogative.

BUT, then he compared the M to the Alpina diesel, and several things went wrong. 1 - the tests seemed to set up the M for failure (see the way they used launch control on the Alpina as well as other examples). 2 - he dinged the M for being too sporty of a sedan (F*** me if that's not what it's made for) and having a more aggressive sound (the very thing he dinged it for not doing enough of against the C63 507).

taking that all together, it just bothered everyone that he shamelessly moved the goal posts for not just objective but SUBJECTIVE things (i.e. sound).

WOW WHAT A REVIEW! CHRIS HARRIS IS THE MAN!! Man can he just wheel a car around a circuit idk who I like better now a days, Harris or Tiff.. God I can't wait to see Tiff drive this thing! I can only imagine the clouds he's going to make. Harris absolutely destroyed those tires hahaha!

Followed by a typical hissy fit battle on the bimmer forums, typical to our crowd unfortunately

"The engine is a masterpiece" --- YES I AGREE

Good job BMW!
