My M4: Evolution Racewerks Downpipes (Pics + Dyno)

BIG thanks to Evolution Racewerks for the awesome downpipes!!! The fit and finish on these are are amazing. The people are ER are top-notch, friendly, supportive and overall an amazing bunch to deal with. I've gone through them before to get a ton of parts for my M235i and I've been extremely impressed with their products. It was a no-brainer on where to go when wanting downpipes for the M4 .

Stock -vs- ER Downpipe Dyno:

Picked up a good amount of horsepower with these bad boys and you can definitely feel it in the butt-dyno. The exhaust is a little louder with these, but nothing too crazy (you still have the secondary cats). One positive thing that I liked is the increased throttle response too. Really love how the car feels throughout the rev-range and this is definitely a worth-while mod.

Was this done with everything else stock or did you already have the exhaust & JB4?

Interesting, this refutes my prior speculation that the downpipes increased torque more-so than horsepower, good info!

Are DP's needed to be welded when installed?

I thought downpipes in general would add some torque too, but it seems to only happen with some extra boost.

Hey man. Hoping you could help me out. I just bought these downpipes and debating whether or not I should install them. I do not have a JB4 or tune, so I dont know if its worth it? Are you glad you threw them on without the tune, or would you have waited until you got a tune to throw them on? Thanks in advanced.

I threw them on 10 minutes before the tune, but I've been driving with the JB4 disabled (with CEL delete on). With this, I ran my brother in his F80 M3 (stock) from a 45 and 60 roll and I walked by him every time with the downpipes installed. They do make a huge difference in power .

CEL does come on with these downpipes correct?
How long before it popped up?

I am reading this right? You lost 4 ft/lbs of torque?

Is this an anomaly that would be considered an outlier if multiple runs were compared or do you actually loose torque?

It looks like it is pretty consistent over most of the curve (there is a range where the run with DPs has slightly more torque than stock, but the majority of the curve it is reversed).

I would assume that the butt dyno would be more sensitive to torque rather than HP, but also could be some "felt" power from increased decibels.

It popped up like 20 miles or so after the install.

You're reading it too strict . This pull was done right after the install so there's not much time for the ECU to adapt, but regardless it is quicker than before though.
