HEX Tuning - PORT FLASHING & User Controlled MAP SWITCHING
As most everyone knows by now, OBDII Port Flashing for the BMW (F8x) M3/M4 can only be enabled by removing the ECU in order to "unlock and patch" the DME. While this is a step that requires visiting a Certified HEX Tuning Dealer (or sending your ECU to our California facility), once patched, the user can then benefit from TRUE Port Flashing and Map Switching capabilities, enabled by our HEX Tuning User Programing Cable. * Unique Performance Features * Multiple Performance Stage Levels * Pump Gas and Race Fuel Options * Features Only and Stock Mode Options * As the first tuner to enable OBDII Map Switching for the BMW M3/M4, we have focused diligently on providing turn key performance solutions that support a wide variety of hardware upgrades and fueling solutions. Not only have we been able to offer competitive power levels to other software solutions on the market, we continually prove ourselves with the most consistent & usable power which has been demonstrated though incredible real world results. To keep all of our existing customers in the loop on the various performance maps available to them, as well as to educate potential future customers on the range of software options for their vehicle, we have created the following graphic to display each Stage Level and Performance Option currently available. As we add more options, we will update this thread and share customer reviews and/or testing results as they are made available. Map switching using the HEX Tuning User Cable and a PC Laptop takes only minutes and can be performed anywhere and at any time without an internet connection or WiFi. Your software purchase includes your VIN specific Stock Tune and desired Performance Software Version. Additional Maps can be purchased separately and all future software updates are made available at no extra charge. Additional software levels are currently in development as we are looking to support the most common hardware combinations including, but not limited to, upgraded turbos. In addition to our continued support of top level software solutions, we are also currently testing a number of upgraded cooling products such as front mount heat exchanger, top mount charge cooler, oil cooler, and DCT transmission cooler. Stay TUNED for more info on future product developments! |

It's essentially a Stage Level between Stock and Stage ONE. Last edited by VF-Engineering; 10-24-2016 at 01:03 PM.. Reason: typo |

For now it is Windows OS only...
All of our dealers are obviously have the equipment to help out with program switching. It literally takes less than 5 minutes, so if you had to go back to them I'm certain they can do it for you at no cost. |

I'm very interested in the ZCP level. It's exactly what I'm looking for.
I want the burbles , but only a little power increase , as traction is hard enough to come by in stock form. What's the cost for the ZCP level tune? Have you had any of the hesitation issues with this level tune like the stage 1?

The ZCP Level Tune is $895 MSRP. It will still need to be installed at a Certified HEX Tuning Dealer ... in your case, it looks like you are closest to Sonic Motorsports. (you will still need to add labor, and the optional HEX Flash Cable.) As for the hesitation or throttle response issue, it should be noted that even those customers who have experienced this issue have acknowledge that our tune is still much better than stock. What they are looking for a way to improve or eliminate a characteristic of the car itself that becomes exaggerated with the increased power of our software. The HEX Tune is not creating a new issue, but it is making the existing symptom more noticeable. It has been virtually eliminated in the DCT cars, and we are finalizing a new update for the 6-speed Manual cars that will be released shortly. |

What are the "modest" gains of the ZCP tune? Something like 30/30?

(hence the reason we call it ZCP Level). We've been seeing a consistent 20HP and 15-20TQ (surprisingly, considering that BMW stated that torque stays the same). The important thing to note, aside from the power gains, is that there are other significant improvements on the ZCP such as improved throttle and boost control that provide additional benefits to the overall power delivery and drivability of the car. |

For what its worth I did a pull on the freeway against a BMS Stage 1 and it only pulled one car. I'm ZCP and the other car wasn't.

I don't need to be the fastest. I mostly want the GTS features, but the modest gains are a plus

You can start with a software level that you feel most comfortable with, and then make the decision to upgrade, add maps/files, and switch between Stock and tuned power levels as you see fit. Some may never see the need to upgrade, and some will want options. Features Only makes the can unique and interesting to drive. ZCP Power Level puts you on par with BMW's competition model. Stage ONE offers competitive power on pump fuel with basic mods. Stage TWO allows you to optimize power even further based on additional exhaust mods. Stage TWO+ gives you the ability to run unleaded race fuels when desired. Ethanol Tune (coming soon) will offer people an alternative fueling option for peak power. Program switching literally takes less than 3 minutes. You don't need a WiFi connection, and you don't need to do any data logging. People may dub these as "OTS" (off the shelf) maps, but the truth of the matter is that these are all pre-engineered and thoroughly tested software options. Each one is optimized for a specific purpose, power level, and recommended fuel quality and/or supporting modifications. |

Power Level remains the same as stock, but you get a very unique feature set. At that point your ECU will be unlocked, and program switching will be enabled. You can very easily upgrade to any of our increased power level stages, or you can switch back to stock at any point. Also keep in mind that these features are accomplished through calibration strategies learned through our exploration of the BMW M4 GTS model. *Not all "burble" or "start up roar" is created equal. |

I do my own coding for the F82 and was wondering whether I could use my current cable instead of purchasing a Hex Tuning Cable. Is there a difference?

Our software is encrypted and you need our HEX Flash Cable in order to communicate with the ECU through our HEX Flash Program. |

Is the ZCP tune bit-for-bit BMW's swfl? This is being asked from someone who wants that to be the case, that is.
Also, would you be able to ensure that customers who are addicted to staying on the latest ISTEP (carried out themselves) to be able to either carry on with upgrades, or run the relevant swfl file(s) through some conversion tool as an ingestion avenue toward your own software, themselves at home? |
