First wash
After 7 days and 300 miles I took my new baby to the coin-op to clean her up. This is what I found...
The wife wasn't providing much sympathy, I thought you guys might be more understanding. p.s. never tried embedding a youtube link before, hope this works. Last edited by hitmanray; 09-10-2014 at 10:15 PM.. Reason: removed u2b tags |

Looks like you got a stone chip in your bumper.

That video was sooooo funny! Nicely done!
But yeh, that'll fix really easy. You can get one of those paint pens from BMW and fix it up in no time

This is my plan. I had planned to do it last week (pics were taken from the previous weekend) but want to get the chip fixed now. I did read that MW can be a pain to color match panels. Hopefully the chip repair stuff will not suffer the same issue.
I do realize that ultimately cars will get dings and scuffs, it's just the first one stings a little. On a positive note, the first one is done now. The second one never hurts as much. |

Dude that sucks, side note, I'm told and have heard, so don't jump on me here, using those types of car washes is paint suicide. White ok maybe but do look at the autogeek.net method

I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to keeping my car "right", which is incredibly stupid with BMW steel brakes, as they bleed dust everywhere all the time...BUT, I had to come to the same realization as you; about 150-200 miles I was already starting to get rock chips and an absolutely abnormal amount of insects dead on the car. The front of the f8x after a 300 mile journey was coated like it was dipped in a vat of dead insects =/ (gross, isn't it?)
The front is pretty wide and square so be advised for more rock chips and other things. Try not to drive behind tractor trailers or big trucks. They like to spit rocks |

don't even bother fixing it. just learn to love the ordinary wear and tear as a symbol of utilizing and enjoying your car. I get a few of these every time I go to the track, and it doesn't bother me anymore.

damn its small and unnoticeable to none car ppl, know how you feel. Get some Rubbing Alcohol, clean up the chip, then by a paint correction system from either your dealer or Dr. Colorchip n with time and patience you can make it badly visible. then process of polishing and compound it to make it flow in with rest of the paint, 98% fix. Thats what i do for my customers and my cars. hope you fix it.

I'd be careful washing your car at those car washes. High pressure wand has been known to ruin paint and take it off the plastic parts rather easily. I think a few members here even shared their stories. Hand wash best way to go with two bucket system.
Just sayin. |
