Opticoat PPF
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with installing Opticoat's PPF at the South Sydney Store. I can't seem to find any information on the film they use as opposed to the more well known XPEL & 3m films.

Cant help with the question but suggest you stay away from 3m. I have it now and its yellowed within the year. Been told that 3m have not improved the film since its release.
If you can make the trip I suggest clearshield (castle hill) or the xpel product. If I could do it again I would go for either of those. |

I’m in Sydney.
Provinyl. Autoartisan have been my go to guys for vinyl but weren’t in the clear film game when I needed my car wrapped. They are now. Speak to both. Michael from Autoartisan is a really great guy and stands by his work. Provinyl was awesome to. I think you could make the distinction on price. |

https://www.facebook.com/PandaPROdetail/ My mate took his BMW M2 there (he had previously used opti-coat) and had the Japanese coating layered on the car. Looks so much better the color is deeper and always shiny. |

I recommend Xpel. I have Stealth all throughout my car. Looks like oem frozen color.

Hey mate, if you aren't going to go with XPEL, then the only option is Clear Shield.
In the end I didn't bother with either as my car is Alpine White, but i'd do a full front with a color.

I would recommend taking a look at ClearGuard Nano SR or Suntek Ultra. Not sure if these are readily available in Australia but they're definitely worth a look. After using Xpel Ultimate on my current vehicle, I will not be using it on my incoming vehicle.

That's spot on. That's one of the reasons I will opt out going forward.

I ended up going with Suntek. As the price to wrap an entire car was $3200 compared to the eye watering $6500 for xpel. I figured that it’s meant to be a sacrifical later so why spend so much money on something no one can see.
At the end of the day, if a rock is flung up whilst doing some serious high speeds nothing will save your paint but a leather car bra. For everyday driving suntek does the job and in sprinted drive with mates, the film will be pitted and can be replaced for a few hundred when it starts to look like an eye sore. 9 months in with suntek and I can’t complain. The film also hides all your swirls so you can get it washed anywhere and not worry. |

Sydney premium detailing is easily the best. Best film on the market so far is Xpel. Suntek is also good, but not as thick so offers less protection but definitely my second pick. Suntek & Xpel have the best designs. Forget alot of the "tailored/custom design" marketing nonsense. I'll never touch project wrap again. Was at the Ferrari Pista launch last night, of which they PPFd the launch car and man was it shocking. Clearshield can be decent when Dave is wrapping it, but otherwise inconsistent. Also their wrap is not as thick as Xpel therefor offers less protection. My cars took much longer to be wrapped at Clearsheild (2 weeks+) than Sydney Premium Detailing(4-5 business days) and 1 had to be redone at Clearsheild (dave redid it the second time himself vs his staff/contractors). 3m sucks due to the yellowing mentioned above. It's also prone to peeling vs xpel. Got an 812 on the way which will be going straight to Sydney Premium Detailing for full Xpel PPF + ceramic coating. You get what you pay for in this space. Expect to pay top $ for top quality. |
