I like the way the front bumper is shaping up -- much more aggressive than the E9XM, which I wish had some more of the pronounced styling found on the 1M and even some of the M Sport cars like the E90 LCI and E70.

That said, I really hate the tapered, double-walled/rolled tips of the exhaust. Please let that be a prototype...

So you're telling me it's a widebody F30 with the M6 front bumper? Sounds perfect

Now, for a CF roof on the sedan...

Those look like the factory finishers from a 135i, which are rather ugly. I'd imagine those are just temporary and that the final product will be better. Or maybe this is how they plan on separating us from our money by offering these standard and a "sport exhaust" that's better done as an option.

I kinda like them.

But, for my next ///M, I'm going to spring for the Performance Exhaust.

Since we now know it will be a TT i6, probably even just a modified N55, I do not understand the need for the powerdome.

What about the fake quad exhaust, fake side vents and sure to come cosmetic plastic roof?

Click the link in the first post. It tells you that the hood bulge may be a heat air vent.

so glad its not the renders of the e9x m3 bumpers on this f80/2.
on the other hand, the new f30 msports are still the same as the e9x. thought it needed a change / more like the newer styling. i guess bmw didnt think so.

Everything is on schedule. Around this time in 2010 and indeed 2011 we were starting to get some details of the M5 and M6 respectively.
There is still a long way to go as M development is robust and thorough .

Some cosmetic details such as wing mirrors etc are not necessary yet but as we approach that time just before the concept will be shown at Geneva in March 2013 we will see full semi-disguised versions. Although some more color is now available in these disguised prototypes.

Hopefully now you can see the details I was trying to capture in my (crude) sketches.

Yeap, M3 will get dedicated mirrors.

For what it's worth, I highly doubt that the M3 Concept will be at Geneva 2013. The E92 M3 will still be in production at that time and BMW surely won't ruin their late E92 M3 sales by showing the successor already. I rather think that the F80 M3 Concept will be shown at Frankfurt 2013.

Best regards,
south

Thanks for all the info Scott.
Should we interpret, from your M4 coupe sketch, that the M4 (maybe even the M3 sedan) will come with a carbon fiber roof similar in design (double hump) to the M6 as well?

Best regards,

As far as I know the main choices for the concept are either Geneva or Shanghai 2013. With previous E92 in 2007 arriving at Geneva , Geneva is the preferred choice. But you need to look at it this way. The M3 Sedan will have been out of production for over two years and is still a four door over the M3's Coupe , choosing four doors for some customers is a necessity rather than a desire, That the E92/E93 remain as a Coupe/Cabrio customers are more inclined to choose that if that is their preference.

Although M3 is a concept. its official premiere in production form will be at Frankfurt with European sales commencing around November , The E92/E93 will by then, written into the history books.

But I am positive that despite an M3 concept the E92 will still be very popular right up to its dying day for some.
