What an experience!!
I wish I someday can have a chance to drive all the ///M cars, and of course the i8.
BTW, your English seems excellent.

The colour looks close to the pictures. ( Especially the second interior picture. It is a light, warm caramel) I liked the mineral Grey AND the beige both a lot. Combination looked great in real.
Also when you use the official configurator on BMW Website, the F8x seats are looking very perforated. A lot of punctures... or small holes in rectangles along the middle of the seat.
In real this is not half as strong as it is looking on pictures/websites.

I am somewhat dissapointed with the leather in my M135i (and the leather i had in my 125i Coupe before). It has a very strong "plastic feel" to it. Not natural.

So this time i ordered the cloth/leather combo in my upcoming F80. This was a mistake. Merino leather is close to what you get in a Ferrari. Very soft and very natural feeling.
Also i was concerned (while not having seen the car) about the big plastic backside of the seats, and how this will match to a leather interior. Also not an issue. Interior Quality look, touch and feel was a lot better, than i expected.
So now i am getting a saphire black M3 with the cloth leather interior and carbon trim (veneer). I will call my dealer today, if i can change into the beige leather interior (together with black exterior), because the beige - it really is great.

Mineral grey is also a perfect colour. Just i am planning to do a lot of performance parts mods, and i am thinking those look better combined with a white or black car.

I got the same impression. Today I finally saw an M4 (in AY) and an M3 (BSM), and I was surprised at how much meaner the M3 looked vs.the M4.

Great write up! Thanks for posting.

I'm no fan of the M5 myself but I find it impossible from the specifications that they are that much alike. I do suspect that F8X is one of those cars that will quietly find it's way to your heart after a somewhat lukewarm underwhelming first meet. At least that's what I hope for
Just to keep things in context...One of the biggest pros of 1M is its compact size and one of the biggest cons of M5 is size/weight. So that would slide M3/4 right in the middle where it belongs, I see zero issue here.

I think it is easily the best review. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your impending purchase.

First impressions:

- M4 looks more elegant, M3 a lot more brutal. Driving felt same to me. When approaching the cars, you can tell from the first second, M3 is an M car. The M4 seems to be little bit more close to a 4 series coupe and is in need maybe of a second look to be identified as an M. But probably this is just my impression.

- M3/M4 are both super quick. Changing into an M6 (competition package) after I have driven the M3 was astonishingly disappointing. Where the hell are those 575 hp ???

- During our test drives we had several fast Autobahn - passages. At very high speeds (250 km/h), M3/M4 is the most reassuring car I have ever driven. Car felt extremely connected to the road and stable. The speedometer goes up to around 270, then you are slowed down softly.

- Interior and leather quality is actually very good. Not Audi but close. I regret ordering cloth/leather seats. The leather is very soft and far superior to that in my M135i (which felt super slow during my drive home).

- I will definitely go for an aftermarket exhaust. In the standard car you get something like an angry grunt or "roar" while accelerating, and that is pretty much all of it. You can not tell 6 or 8 cylinder, and it is not quite a sensation. (As a Ferrari customer, I must admit it is not easy to satisfy me here. M5/M6 sounded rather poor to me as well...). Fortunately there was a managing director from Manhart (German tuning company) there yesterday as well. Akrapovic already seems to be developing an M3 exhaust, as well as Manhart and other companies. Just waiting for YouTube clips to make a choice.

- In my opinion the car is in need of some small coding. Every time you turn off the car you get every setting dropped back to comfort/efficient. Auto Start/Stop felt very annoying to me as well. I will try to get that turned off after delivery.

- On the Autobahn and on Country roads, I was not able to tell any difference between the standard brakes (on M3) and the carbon ceramics (on the M4). Standard brake can take your breath away very easy and are quite strong ;-) I would go for carbon ceramic if I would track the car. Otherwise I would spend that money on other comfort / luxury options. Or just use the cash for get a nice titanium exhaust handcrafted for me ;-). This you will actually feel ;-)

- i8 is crazy good looking in real. A lot better than on pictures. I am very disappointed I have no opportunity for charging where I park my cars. I think I would prefer it to any M car right now, if only i could charge it. Just because of the looks. Please BMW, I want that kind of shape with a proper M engine and a proper chassis ;-)

While the E90 M3 does a disservice to the /// badge, the F80 M3 stunningly claims the road presence and knocks out the coupe for the first time in the M3/4 history. Absolutely agree with everyone who share the same thoughts. Wish I get to buy one and still keep my E92 V8!

What color is that M3? Is it mineral grey? Looks amazing whatever it is!

Nice! I'd love an invite like that. Thanks for the post.

Also, your English is excellent...it's better than many native speakers.
