We don't even have the A4 Avant (except for the Allroad) or C Class Estate for sale in the US anymore. And BMW only offers the 3 Touring with AWD and 4 cylinder engines. The market for wagons in the US is small unfortunately.

They are evaluating an additional M model for the M3 but it all comes down to first and second year sales. But this model so far , since launch has exceeded its projections and has not even been on sale for a year, if it will come it will be arriving in 2016.

Although, BMWNA doesn't market the touring like they do the X3, so that needs to be taken into consideration when comparing the two's sales numbers.

I have an E90 M3 and an X1 for the kids and the dog. I was steered away from the new touring to the X1 purely on price. For a comparably equipped wagon (to the x1 I ended up buying) it was almost $20K more.
I've had many wagons, all BMW, and really miss the driving dynamics of a car for my winter driver/practical car. Even though the X1 is based on the E9x it can't hold a candle to my last MT Msport E91 touring for driving dynamics and space. I think BMW has priced the touring out of the market. It's really easy to cross shop an Allroad and an X1. But cross the street to the BMW lot and the price goes up significantly for a similarly equipped car. You can get an X1 with the N55 for less than a 328xit. The 3 Gt just seems dumb as well. Whose dog will fit back there? I'd buy an M3 touring in a heartbeat.

A blue RS4 Avant pulled up next to me at an island this morning...
I have to confess I really like the look of it... Now if only there was a BMW equivalent for me to like. |

Oh yes, I'd might consider that instead of the sedan or coupe. I regard the E60 M5 Touring as one of the coolest cars ever made, though the E60 M5 sedan is one notch up.

Cool, it wasn't listed on Wikipedia, only the e39 and e60 were, so I didn't include it in my post. Thanks for the info!
