Nobody noticed he said the next car will have 450hp and 480+ lb/ft of torque? When was this video shot? From my understanding the car will be 400hp and 400tq.

He's very right about it being a shame that the CSL didn't come in a MT..

Nice video. I have a soft spot for the S54 engine, for obvious reasons...

However, the video states that the US market received the CSL with a manual..I wish! We received the Competition Package, which had some of the CSL goodies. Thankfully, this car was available with a manual, but it was not a CSL.

E30/36/46 yummy!
F80? Might as well get an e60 m5 with monstrous 10 cylinders!
Itll be a great car no doubt but make way for the m2 - seems like itll carry on the torch of the legacy. This m3 better not be some sort of touring car. That would be an utter shame.

No, the rumours are saying about 450 hp or more. No way it would be down on hp from last generation. Weight loss or not it will have more power.

I know the feeling ... I sold mine (e46 2002 M3) for a Z4 35i then went on a rampage (three M3 e92 incl the one I drive now). Miss the e46 is an understatement ... nice to know there are quite a selection of e46 M3's out there for the taking

Perhaps I will sell my e92 some day keep my DD and find a nice e46 oh yes

as said I know how you feel made the very same mistake

that CSL noise is fantastic.

I'm sure the new M3 will be great as ALL eyes are on BMW for this one but we have to wait until 2015 for the coupe version?

Actually Dave is closer to what the actually specs will be. Jason has shared multiple times here that the Hp will be 'about the same' as the current M3(414hp) while the Tq will see a +100lb increase bringing it closer to 400. The weight will be lighter but how much is the million dollar question. BMW could make it a mere 150-200lbs lighter and be able to advertise the new M3 as "lighter, faster and more powerful", even though the Hp will be the same.

And you guys already hailing the M2 as the new king, think again. It will be a great entry level M car but I doubt it will even fill the big shoes of the 1M. We already know it will be a 4cylinder which will come up short to the extremely underrated N54t found in the 1M. The weight of the 1M which was already closer to the E46 will be hard to achieve in the M4 as well.

I could give a fug if the car has more HP than the current one. Make it lighter and smaller or go home. Drop 400 lbs (or more) and the 36+ HP bump that everyone is looking for becomes quite inconsequential. I love my E90 and I bought it because of the refinement and S65 but when I see the E46 CSL, I start to get envious.

Weight
Sound
at least 7800 rpms

These 3 items are critically important to me and we know the suspension, brakes, and tranny will be good. Seeing the leaked coupe shots, I think the coupe will be smaller and sportier while the sedan will follow the M5 refinement route.

There is one thing I can not understand. Why the big automanufacturers like BMW do not reissue their models which became legends? Due to the low market demand? I doubt.

For example, Gibson produces "Historic Reissues", Les Paul guitars with specifications of the late 1950s etc. These "custom shop" guitars cost more than the regular Les Paul models, but there is a big demand for these "Historic reissues", because of the high quality and product specifications and design.
Sure, making a "historic reissue" car model it is impossible to follow all the old specifications due to the safety and ecology requirements. But I guess it is possible to keep the car conception, main characteristics, design with change of the ecology and safety characteristics... Or I am discoursing just like a naive child?
