Nice M4!!
btw, is that central air conditioning vents up near the ceiling of the garage??? If so, don't you have a gross air pressure imbalance inside your home when the ac is on? |

Where are you getting those parts from? Mine will be here in 2 months in the States and I've been looking for M4 M Performance parts and can't seem to find any. Are those offical BMW M performance parts?

This feels a little odd, but by popular request, here is a little garage walkthrough... The garage is effectively a three car wide garage with extra depth on one side to fit the workshop. Externally it’s a sectional stained timber door: Which opens in one span: Floor is a vitrified porcelain tile direct stuck onto a concrete slab. This particular tile is used in outdoor commercial office building applications so it is commercial grade non-slip and as hard as nails: The workshop area has a stainless steel bench with moulded sink in one corner, along with the usual telephone extension, power, and wifi extender hidden in cabinet. There is also a TV point and power in the top corner above the shelves but have not go around to hanging that yet. The Splashback is glass and painted metallic silver on the back side. This combined with the stainless steel top ends up being very easy to keep your bench clean as you can spray anything on it and wipe it clean and it wont stain the bench or walls. I had the cabinet maker make deep shelves on full extension rollers along the full length of the longest wall which basically gives a home to all the clutter you normally find in garages. It keeps everything clean and dust free, and easy to find. …and for the record, this is the best thing I ever did to this garage…its freekn great and will be how I do all future garages until I'm decaying organic matter. To be even more anal, everything has a label of course because there are allot of draws and you cant see in from the outside, but this makes everything very easy to find: Up the workshop end I have built in a heavy duty metal tool chest with full extension rollers that is built into the cabinet work and holds all heavy equipment and tools. As mentioned earlier, it is a timber clad sectional door. On the inside I had the aluminium cross beams, rails, and roller mechanism custom powder coated to match the wall colour. It’s a very heavy long span door so lots of cross beams to support it so I thought the colour worked out well. On the other wall, I have three floor to ceiling bike mounts which keeps the bikes off the garage floor (easier to clean the floor, just hose it out or vacuum and mop it like the rest of the house), and also makes a better use of space. I have two kids so we have a few bikes. Also saves the risk of kids nocking bikes onto your car. Just outside the garage door is water to make the car cleaning easy, and I have a pressure unit with power just inside so I don't have to move it. ..and yes, I have 12V downlights in the ceiling. Too much? As you can probably tell, I really wanted this room to be like a room in a house, not a garage, so it was the natural choice: ..and yes. The garage is air conditioned. As I say, I wanted to treat it like any other room in the house, and Ausi summers can get hot, so if you want to tinker with your toys in comfort....its nice to turn it on cool, or just turn the fan on to circulate air if needed. RallyBull, to answer your question, the air conditioning is a standalone unit (separate from the rest of the house) and has its own return air so there is no pressure issues: The lighting system for the house is a commercial grade Dynalite System. I don't know if you get this actual product in the USA, no doubt something similar, but here it is the go-too brand for commercial applications. The advantage of course is you can control things other than lights and link with other home automation products. As you can see by the switch below it also opens my gates, starts music, TV, and you will notice the "Comp Air" button? This is the cool thing.....I press this and it starts up an air compressor which is not anywhere near the garage (it’s in the pool pump room at the far end of the house) and this feeds air to the air hose reel in the garage so no noisy air compressors while you are doing your stuff in the garage. It goes for 1 hour and turns itself off in case you forget: The air line is in one of the cabinets on a retractable reel: The 'tinkering with M4 music' (which for the record has been Chet baker this week) is by way of a small Bang & Olufsen dock on the wall which is a perfect size for a garage of this size: Last but not least I have an electric window. It is completely opaque and when I want to see the car from the inside of the house (or inside of house from the garage) then you press a button and it changes from opaque to transparent instantly. Garage Looking In: Inside Looking Out: This activates from a switch inside the house ("window"): I made a quick iPhone video below with my son pressing it to give you an idea how it works: And now…to finish off, a few obligatory shots of the M4 insitue…cos after all....that’s why we are here right? The city stable. 535D MSport for the wife & kids, M4 for me (which recently replaced my E92M3), and a Fiat 500 for my daily 5 min commute into the office. Hope you enjoyed or found usfull. G’day from Western Australia. Deej Last edited by DeejAus; 08-31-2014 at 07:59 AM.. |

I don't even know what to say about that. Someone call MTV Cribs or Robin Leach. That is amazing. The other part of the house is probably a shack. Kinda like a boomin system and 22 inch rims on an accord. Lol. I'm just joking and jealous. That's awesome.

Wow what a cool garage! It's like a dream garage for me. Love it! We have three similar daily drivers here in Melbourne too btw. A white 5er for the wife, a YMB M3 for me when I need to drive the kids, and a MINI GP city car for my around town commute that is usually no more than a few kilometres as I live in the city.
