Some people are definitely more equal than others.
This is almost counter-revolutionary.

@SeanWRT Why are you so surprised? According to bmw.com.cn, base M4 is 927,000. GTS being twice as expensive pretty much follows the market trend. In US base M4 is $66,200 and GTS is $133,200.

Looking at the rest of the prices, GTS seems like a bargain compared to the X6 M, which is 2,158,000 RMB in China.

cant believe some people are still ignorant and make these kind of comments "whoever buy these are not hardcore bmw fans". all imported cars in china are expensive like that thanks to the infamous import tax. people buying these gts would be making the same decision as buying any other cars. its not like they have money and throw it out the window

I don't agree with OP, there are MANY hardcore BMW fans in China WITH money. These cars will be sold in no time, trust me!

Y'all is just dum or plane stoopid. I immediately rushed out and ordered mine! I was SO lucky they still had one of these gems left! All I had to do was send the $$$ to their shipping agent in Nigeria (they told me he's a Prince) plus another $150k to get it past customs again on the way out, and I'll have it shipped to me here in the US!
Imagine y'all's faces when you see me ripping down the road in my new $500k M4 GTS!

Crazy thing is that's still chump change to the wealthy there. Honestly I don't see how these cars sell for what they are going for, whatever it's capable of, I'd never pay more for this than a gt3, 997 or 991.

That's in our money. It's just over $220 k USD at the moment, plus on roads being at least $10k more.

Proportionally speaking, it is about the right price. They are all about twice as much in China than US

Well I am not surprised, already expecting where gts "should" be priced compared to base m4 (which btw is 1.03M instead). Looking at competitors (amg gts listed for 1.5m, 75% of m4 gts price) is when BMW really start to make no sense.

No mate, basically cars in China and Malaysia and HK or even the Asean region are almost the same except for perhaps Laos or Cambodia. But the latter 2 are poor country in Asean standard so yeah. In Malaysia, an M4 cost around USD185k. My new Q50 is about USD50k and its not even highly specced.

Little off topic but sorta same crazy tactics, I saw an M2 private party on auto trader for $95,000 U.S. Dollars still there for like 2 months now hasn't budged.
M2 for $96k? I would get it in no time. Too bad I am half the world across.

That's astonishing! If you have enough money to afford that you could just buy it in another country and have it shipped back home. (But then again if you have the $ then you have the $.) Guess its a status symbol. Somebody will pay it.

You don't think there is an import tax on cars in those countries?

I don't think they'll be equal to the value of the product being imported. 100% tax rate? If I buy the car in the states for $150k are they going to charge me $160k in tariffs to import it to China? Probably not.
