The thing to keep in mind is the M4 GTS is a temporary car, put together relatively quickly (slapped together, maybe?). It's a bridge, if you will, to the car which promises to have both looks and performance for the money. That would be a variant of the other reveal at Pebble Beach - the 3.0 CSL. |

The M4 GTS is not a temporary anything, BMW has been thinking about it since day 1. In regards to the looks, as I understand it most people are complaining about the dashes of orange paint misguidedly applied to wheels or a section of the front spoiler. Quite another good chunk of posts have been appreciative of the overall styling. I think it's a tremendous statement of intent, and I hope they only produce it in one uncomfortable color - perhaps an acid green - to weed out all the wannabe racers, so that only committed track junkies buy them. Unfortunately I know exactly how it will play out. After a short period of contemplation the posers will realize that their previously cool looking spoilers and other tasteful bits are no longer standing out, and will demand of the tuners and fabricators to replicate the GTS front spoiler, wing and hood. 2 years from now all the slammed M4's will look exactly like this car.

Technically they could create a wide body M4 variant but since it wouldn't be used for racing (the M6 GT3 takes care of that), then what could possibly be the purpose? I'll keep my doubts and be pleasantly surprised if it happens. It would probably be introduced by the Easter Bunny at Santa's secret M factory at the North Pole.

Even with that splitter retracted, it's still pretty damn low. I now I'd scrape at my usual gas station and definitely at work... not that I would drive it to work. . Found them on the 997 GT3 RS 4.0. http://suncoastparts.com/product/RS40DPS.html .

Do you guys think we'll be able to retrofit the OLED tails with a special harness + coding like we're seeing for the LCI tails?

I think they may need a new light control module, some new hardware to drive them.

You mean the 997 generation? I know that the previous gen had dive planes, that's why I asked whether the 991 GT3 RS had dive planes
BTW, the 991 GT3 RS is also a 4.0 Does anyone know the front aero downforce on the 997 GT3 RS 4.0? I suspect the 991 GT3 RS has more downforce without the dive planes, due to the air outlets in the front fenders. |

I'm not a huge fan of turbo engines for track cars, but I'd buy that when my car dies.

It had been bugging me seeing the frozen gray with acid orange combo on the GTS. Then this morning, I saw why. See below:
