DOT regulation.

I understand that they were tolerated for a while in the past, but the regulators tightened the enforcement in recent years.
That's stupid.

My dad's 85 Honda Accord looked great with amber lights.

Good question, I am not sure why that is .

The DOT allows both amber and red rear turn signals and even made a study demonstrating that amber signals help reduce collisions.

I really don't understand why European manufacturers started replacing their amber rear turn signals with red ones for the North-American market a few years ago .

Could I order European-style amber lights for my 235?

Yup. I did the same thing for my E92M.

Yes (aftermarket though), and they would be legal

I think it's because, way back when, all the crazy Americans started replacing their amber lights with 'European' ones. Now they WANT the amber lights. This is just my observation and based on no real evidence

I'm totally in for the goodies the car comes with but the rims look like crap IMO. I feel like this M4 looks cheesy compared to the normal model. Even the wing is kinda weak looking. I'm sure it's a beast though.

Not sure I follow you. Turn signals are mandated by regulation to be amber in Europe...

But how much better could a wing like this look? It is there for a reason and I'm not sure they could design a better looking one without spending more than its worth.

I'm not disputing the functionality of it, just the look. To me this GTS just looks kinda cheesy. It's not my ownership of an E92 talking. And in the end it's just my opinion not fact. I just think it takes from the look of an already gorgeous car.

I totally agree. The rear shot wouldn't look as good without the amber color.
And amber is way more noticeable than red.
