Akra always has the best build quality, best design, and best use of exotic material (titanium). On a vehicle where the exhaust system weighs 130lbs, like the E60 M5, the light weight titanium would have a huge impact. Akrapovic has always had to abide by EU decibel levels on their exhaust systems which is why their systems are not nearly the loudest out of all of the tuners out there. It also really depends on the type of engine a titanium exhaust is fitted to. On the F10 M5, the titanium really changes the tone of the engine in a very positive way. One of the best setups I've ever heard was catless downpipes and the Akrapovic full exhaust system on an F10 M5. The titanium tone was really amplified by the cats having been removed. On other engines, it can sound even better, like on the Lexus LFA, which comes from the factory with a full titanium exhaust. However, with the S55 engine, a tuner is really going to have to do something special with the muffler design in order to not make it sound so raspy and inelegant. Not that Akra isn't up to the challenge, but there are other tuners out there who have yet to finish their designs too. Big ones I'm waiting to hear are Akra, Eisenmann, Kreissieg, RPi, and Dinan.

Anyone else notice that it looked like late winter and the M4 was a pre-production car?...why would BMW cooperate?....do they own part of Akrapovic?...Is Akrapovic designing the "M performance" exhaust for BMW?..

seems weird.......

The Akrapovic with DP's is the best sounding exhaust available on the M5/6 in my opinion . Loud does not always equal good , but make no mistake on the M6 with DP's people hear me coming from miles away lol . It's the most exotic sounding option on the S63 TU and you can't hear those subtle tones on a you tube vid . I highly recommend listening to any exhaust in person before you make a purchase of this magnitude .

They do plenty of cooperations. Lots of BMW safety cars running Akra, not to mention their race bikes run Akra too.

Now that the M-Performance line is kind of running full steam ahead, who knows if they'll do this again.

anyone who pays 8k plus for a freakin pipes, has something loose in their head. yea titanium bla bla save 15lb bla bla.. f that.. i will never support a company who wants 1000% profit margin. you can say RnD cost money, but why does their RnD five times more than any other? do they give more hp? nope. less weight? maybe 10lb or less compared to other aftermarket. do you ever get to see their magnificent welds? nope not once installed.
yea.. nope nope nope..

So we should be recieveing the very first system in the US this week for the F80/F82 M3/M4 and will install it on our car right away. It will be very exciting to see and hear this in person.

People asking about pricing, the slip-on system is retailing for $4599 (including Carbon or Titanium Tips). The Link Pipe (which is the center section removing the secondary cats) is an additional $2150. We are about 6 weeks away from seeing inventory coming in of this.

We will be putting up a complete writeup and photographing the entire install, and will produce a video for the Bimmerpost Community

This...never liked the way Akra sounded even on the E9X M3.

I would probably just go with a set of catted downpipes when made available and call it a day.

I would spend the money on the full akra system for my E92 given weight and sound but who wants to deal with a CEL and all that hassle for a street legal car. Maybe for this new car they can figure that part out.

The CEL is really retarded if you ask me. Why release a product and then say "oh sorry we just gonna give you headaches when you put our stuff on, oh and btw we not planning on making any fix for it." It almost feels like an incomplete product.

From what i understand the CEL is only an issue with the DPs?

I am still waiting with bated breath to get a member to put one on and give feedback. Especially if they do the change from the DPs. Sigh, patience is definitely not one of my virtues.
