Saw uncovered F80 M3 at BMW Welt
i apologize in advance because BMW dosent allow videos and such, whilst on holiday in Munich, i toured the BMW plant picking up my X1 x35. while at the plnat i saw the new M3 driving around the plant, the sound is quite nice, and the best part... it wasn't taped!!!! i know that it was it because of the quad exhausts, blue calipers and the nice sound and some body features!!

How does the unmasked M3 seen at the Welt compare to any of the F80 M3 renders and how would you describe the exhaust sound?

Are you good at sketching or rendering?

I can't wait to see the new M3/M4. I love the idea of more torque and even though the high revving nature of the current M3 is great, usable torque at low RPM's is also nice. I just want to see the M division to continually push the envelope and deliver a product that makes everyone happy regardless of its engine or format.

I am pretty sure me and him aren't alone in that opinion. I think its unfortunate that BMW is going to a FI 6 format for the F80, but it was probably inevitable. Eventually the M3/4 will probably look like the AMG C63 and those of us who don't want a drag car will have to stick with Porsche. I'll reserve judgement for the final unveiling, but I'd be very surprised if I find the *sound* as good as the V8. |

same thing applies to a GTR... wicked fast, i think of it as playing a video game, except you go to the options menu and select drivers assist, brake assist, and automatic shifting before playing the game, anyways, the point is, that V6 for what that car can do, does not sound heavenly... nothing sounds as good as a good ole V8 (or V10 or V12) rumble, and especially not a FI6 or FI4... |

I think he said he wasnt allowed to take videos while touring the plant. I assume that he wouldnt be allowed to take photos as well.
It would be nice to know how closely his visual compares to the renderings. Last edited by inagua; 05-05-2013 at 08:46 PM.. Reason: typo |

I cannot confirm whether or not they seen the M3 Sedan or else an MSport coming off the Munich production line - M3 will be assembled in Regensburg.
But it is worthwhile to know .... They use the BMW Welt and neighbouring Museum for evaluation clinics , previews and board model showcases , aswell as the FIZ don't forget we saw the first M4 prototype almost a year ago in the Foyer of the BMW Museum. They recently used the Museum for an internal showing of the new V12 super coupe the Rolls-Royce Wraith.

But, BMW is most famous for their straight sixes and M3's have allways been straight engines apart from the last gen... The next gen is now back to the roots with a straight six again |
