I learned a lot. For example I was not aware of the magnesium oil pan, the aluminum standard dampers (saving 6 lbs), or that the crank weighs 4lbs less than the N55 crank.

There is a lot of traditionally low hanging weight reduction fruit that they have already picked at.

I always enjoy Carlos. That was an hour well spent.

There really isn't anybody in the US other than Pobst worth watching, IMO of course. Internationally, EVO staff (Jethro B, Harry M, Tiff if he's still there) are usually good, and I do like Harris when he's not drifting non-stop.

Fast lane guys are the WORST.

For me, I'm not looking for factless circus clown entertainment in my automotive content, which is Clarkson's raison d'etre, thus Carlos is my top choice.

As for the Fast Lane Daily crew - can't say I watch regularly, but probably a few times a month. They are clownish, but they bring facts with them, so I'm cool with it.

Fast lane daily and the fast lane cars are two different shows, former isn't bad and the latter is cringe-worthy

Yeah I meant fast lane cars... the ray ban wearing clown and his friend.

So you mean when CH is getting into or out of a car? Otherwise the dude is sideways. And I'm in complete agreement with you that it's tiresome.

Lago is more likable than Lieberman, who isn't necessarily bad but too hyperbolic in videos.

This was a good honest inside look at the M3/4 from someone who seemed genuinely as interested as I am, which takes a bit of passion and love for your subject because I have a vested in interest in the details of this car, he really doesn't.

Imo, I like this Lagos kid a bit. The US is hurting for reviewers so he's one of the better ones. AT times I find him pretentious or self righteous but overall I like him. I especially like the consistent way of testing and data he puts out, and with Pobst driving the same cars back to back in a track comparison, I think we get a good honest review.

Consumer Reports is absolutely the worst.

Carlos to me is the exact opposite... his speech is soothing...enjoy all his videos and work throughfully.

This guy works hard !!!

Edit: maybe alittle too hard this time, this video is not his most exciting...

@20m50s he talks about how BMW isn’t doing any sort of torque management, but tuners in the aftermarket are working on controlling torque delivery. This seems very interesting. Anyone know what tuners he’s talking about?

Although I like Cooley for his straight talk he doesn't have the best reviews. Not because he's bad but because his role is to go over the tech in the car more so than the car itself. He should have his own show with more freedom to go over all aspects of the car, he's that good IMO.

Anyway, thanks (both of you) for posting. I have no particular feelings on Carlos (less about entertainment than other reviewers (Harris, TG) but I also don't think entertainment is necessarily a bad thing). I would think that you could get the same detail and information level if, say, Harris posted a 1 hour video, but that isn't what they are doing.

Anyway, appreciated the high level of detail and information in this video.

As TheBingoBalls said, what I like about this video (and some of the other comments that are now coming out from reviewers, M, etc) is that people are getting that this is a car with torque and it has to be driven that way. Even in the rain on Road of America he got through it without whining about it as some reviewers have done. Torque just means driving differently and, frankly, most of the time means more fun.
I agree, before my e92 m3 I had a tuned 335i, then a tuned S4.. both low-end torque-packing motors (relatively speaking). I hoped in my e92 m3 for the first time and felt like I was stuck in molasses! It felt odd, but overtime I learned how to get the most out of the car and now it feels, for lack of a better term, normal.

When the time comes to get into an F80, I'll have to relearn how to drive a car with the MUCH torque-ier motor. It should be pretty fun!

That was a great video. I don’t have an opinion on the guy either way but he did take the time to basically go over the entire slide show from the press launch and it was crammed with a lot of good info...stuff I’d have to otherwise scour the forums for. I appreciate the effort.

I didn’t realize until I watched this video how much wider the M3 was than the M4. Those wheel flares alone are almost enough to make me consider switching my order from an M4 to an M3.
