Black Sapphire F80 M3 Euro Delivery Journal with Pics!
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com This was unbelievable-like something out of a dream. My BMW delivery specialist was awesome, and very helpful at explaining all the small details of the car, of which there were a lot! Without much further wait, I drove out of the Welt and almost immediately hit the autobahn to test her out. Unfortunately, parts of the first drive were into the rain, but I hit some dry patches and routinely brought the car up over 100+ mph, to which I can report the car handled without even breaking a sweat. I have adaptive suspension as well, and I would consider this a must option on the car. In comfort mode the car rides like a dream over rougher pavement, but when you set it to sport or sport plus it really hunkers down and feels ready to crush any oncoming corners The next thing I noticed was the sound. OH, THE SOUND. Very exotic sounding-as my delivery specialist said..."disturbed". You can tell immediately upon starting it up, this isn't your run of the mill inline 6. There's a nice bit of cam at idle, and it revs smoothly and easily. From inside the cabin there's a deep rumble from this engine that is absolutely intoxicating, it sounds muscular at every part of the RPM range. With the windows down, there's a good amount of turbo noise-surprising at that. Full throttle invites a loud spool followed by a rush of torque that pins you into your seat. Letting off the throttle after even part throttle, you can hear the diverter valves releasing excess boost. At 3500 rpm the exhaust valves open, to what can best be described as an explosion from the quad pipes behind you. It is stunning at first, and definitely draws attention in a good way. The next day I set out to the second leg of my journey, into the Swiss and Italian Alps. I drove the famous Splugen Pass from Switzerland into Italy, and I'll let the pictures speak for themselves You can see what kind of roads we went on, the car acquitted itself beautifully on these roads! I have a manual and after some good practice here, I can say that it's the best 6 speed I've ever driven, bar none. We arrived in Bellagio on Lake Como, which was a spectacular destination, would highly recommend it to anyone undertaking Euro Delivery. After a couple days here, I then left to head to the French Riviera, where I started to get closer to fully breaking in the car, and really got up to some higher speeds on the highway. This car is SERIOUSLY FAST. Anyone about to receive theirs is in for a treat, I don't think you'll be disappointed. There is not a point in the RPM range where the car feels soft. The torque is constant and the car pulls violently to redline in the first 4 gears. We spent a few days in Monaco and Nice, which were both great, albeit with very different personalities for cities. Monaco is a haven for every kind of expensive car in the world, but even amongst those, people stopped to compliment my new M3 or ask questions about it Nice is a beautiful beach town and was the perfect way to end my vacation in relaxing fashion. Finally, I dropped my car off yesterday with TT Transit Nice. The wait will be tough until it makes it back to the East Coast, but well worth it! I'm so impressed with this car, BMW has really made a supercar for every day. Hope you guys enjoyed and feel free to ask questions!

I am happy that you got the 6MT! I also got BSM paint, but on silvers. Does the shift knob illuminate at night by any chance? I started a thread asking that a couple months ago before anyone got their car.

This was my 2nd time doing it...to be honest I don't think I could buy a new BMW the standard way, it's such an awesome experience.

Very sharp. Congratulations.
You have a 6MT, so I wonder that that display on the dash that says "N" does. Does it still show you what gear you are in, even with the 6MT?

Absolutely beautiful color combination, I love that shade of black and the SO interior is a match made in heaven. Those hips look so wide as good in black!
Enjoy in good health! |

Nice car and tour. I think I actually saw you take delivery. Our cars are similar but I like yours more with the SO interior.
