f80 m3 short shifter, which one to choose

Hi everyone, i just bought a 2015 m3, i choose a manual car and now i would like to get a short shifter

i'm writing this thread to find out which one to choose since i read bad things about f80 m3 short shifter, like not aligned knob or shifter when in neutral position is far on the right....

all those comments come from 2015 or 2016 on what i think was the first generation of short shifter, maybe the company get these on the market too soon.....

Anyway, i want to:

- reduce the throw,
- have the knob perfectly aligned, centered and straight like oem

i see some options on the net. please review the one you have with picture of how the knob straight.

the current options that i found are :

Shifteck BMW (F80 / F82) M3 / M4 Short Shifter Kit

Status Gruppe short shifter BMW F8X M3 / M4

Rogue Engineering Octane Short Shift Kit - F80 M3 & F82 M4

F8X M2/M3/M4 UUC EVO3 Ultimate Short Shifter Kit

the price is not really important, i just want to be happy at the end and avoid buying something with error design that will lead to unstall / uninstall to replace it with something better or staight

I have the UUC Evo3. Some people have posted that their's are crooked, but mine is perfectly straight and works as it should. I will never go back to the OEM shifter unless I sell the car. That being said, I put in an order for a CAE Ultra shifter because... becauseracecar.

Here are some pics of my knob.

I have the Shifteck BMW (F80 / F82) M3 / M4 Short Shifter Kit and I don't like how it feels at all, so I just bought the F8X M2/M3/M4 UUC EVO3 Ultimate Short Shifter Kit and should be getting it next week, so I hope this one has the same feel of the one I had on my 335i and 335is, it was a perfect fit on them.

Can anyone confirm these options can be installed top-down and no need to drop the tranny?

Thanks

There is no need to drop the transmission to install a short shifter, but i think you have to unbolt exhaust and driveshaft and install take around 3 hours from previous comment that i read, by a shop with a lift

I went with the autosolution one simply because it was the best on the e46 m3

I highly recommand it, great mechanical feeling without being notchy, lower the shift knob by about 0.5 inch, shorten the throw by 20%

The autosolution ssk are make on order, machined and all assembled by hand, very well built and very high quality

Just go to the autosolution website and send an email to the owner Ronald, he will built you one within 2 weeks

I have absolutely no regret, this ssk do it's job perfectly

You just can't go wrong with autosolution

Sorry for the very late reply, but life gets in the way sometimes and then you have a baby girl!

But for anyone still interested

So the UUC SSK is the bomb! I love the feel and how precise it is when you shift gears, very glad I installed it!!

Hey, just wondering about your shift knob. Is that carbon fiber vinyl wrapped?

Why would you shorten the shift when you can't slam the gears? Makes no sense

You don't have to remove propshaft or anything to install the UUC shortshift but you have to pusg back the heatshield a bit. I got help from my friends at Schmiedmann here in Sweden to mount it. 1 1/2 hour in total. I am very satisfyed with how it feels and works. More genuine and solid feel.

Looks awesome, is it the BMW performance shift knob and boot which is one piece?

Makes 100% sense , short shifter is more precise and shifter travel is less thereby giving a much better shifting experience. Try one.

I've had plenty of short shifters and usually I would agree with you. But this chassis / computer, doesn't allow for quick shifts (quick engagement)

The stock shifter is butter, best I've ever felt.
