Yellowish substance on some engine parts - is it normal?

Hey folks . Cleaning the engine up and noticed this yellow sticky substance all on the white frame parts in the engine. Lube perhaps ?
Didn’t notice this on my f30 but maybe it was bc it was BSM, and this MW shows it easier ?

If it doesn't look like it's coming from a specific component, it's probably fine. Watch YouTube videos on factory production of cars and you can see all the shit robots spray onto the frame.

OP, I am in agreement with FirstF80InSpace. What you are seeing is more than likely some remnant grease that has traveled into view from the adjacent hood latch.

I had a heck of a time with remnant grease coming out of the lower door drains for the first year and a half. There would be a black streak at each drain on the bottom of the doors, that would travel to the sill under the doors. I was diligent in cleaning and finally the flow has subsided. I went to check them some time back and they were looking pretty pristine.

Just keep cleaning what you can see and eventually the excess will stop flowing off the part it came from. Just make sure the intended part requiring grease has a suitable amount on it.

Looks like the cosmoline type stuff that BMW uses in areas inside metal cavities. Both of my last two BMWs (M3 and M235i) would weep this from inside engine bay around the hood and the door weep holes.

My dealer said it is normal.

Agree, it's cosmoline. Normal. Shows up on white cars more.
