It doesn't look as good as carbon fiber roof unfortunately and the vinyl gloss black wrap is not as clear and glossy as I thought

Looks awesome. That's what I am doing when I get my SO F80!

Questions: I have head wrapping the rails is a PITA. Where there any issues? Also, what did you do about the shark fin? Wrapped or removed and painted?

I had it professionally done. $300 for the roof including the rails. No issues and they did fairly quickly.

When it comes to the shark fin, I bought a carbon fiber cover and slapped it over. That was a mistake because it often times blocks my gps antena. I will need to redo it - I’ll get a black OEM fin and rip the one I have on there.

Having owned an E46 / E60 / F48 and all 3 with sunroof, all 3 with sunroof noises, I was fine without it on the F82 - the CF hood with the indentation in the middle sold me.

Nope. Windows go down just fine. If I need that much wind I take the convertible out instead.

Didn’t even have to consider the other option. The answer is carbon. The answer will always be carbon.

I thought I might miss the sunroof more, but have been pleasantly surprised that it’s not as big a deal as I thought it would be. The carbon roof just looks so damn good, Especially when offset with additional carbon pieces like rear diffuser, rear spoiler etc.

Actually windows down doesnt give the same feel as sunroof open. I am not stating another debate of CF roof vs sunroof and how good it looks, only saying that I miss the sunroof during beautiful weather , I am a sunroof fan and like the CF roof looks and think the car should have come with both

I've owned multiple cars with sunroofs and have very rarely used them, so the Carbon option was an easy choice for me. I love the slight contrast on my BSM m4.

i have a rather large head, so additional weight high on the vehicle would have been a deal killer. Carbon all the way.

It all seriousness, I like having a sunroof, but the carbon was an absolute requirement. It just makes the car look so much tougher.

OK guys an M4 lover here. Unfortunately with the current M4 with Carbon Fiber Roof there is NO actual roof mounting brackets/bolts for a Thule Rack. For some reason they did not include that, to me it's a total F-up, because the previous model had that. You can only get the bolts with the Metal w/Sunroof option. I don't care about having a metal roof, BUT I do NOT want a sunroof. I don't get why it's not included and they have not fixed it yet. It can't be a structural thing because it bolts into the frame of the roof pillars.

I just looked at the brand new M5, here is a photograph of the roof mounting/bolt. Can anyone tell me is it actually functional on the new M5.

I am working hard to get this standard option on all BMWs in the M4.

Miss the sunroof this time of year (Texas). But think the CF roof looks way better on my car (Imola Red) and on lighter cars like San Marino blue, Sakhir Orange or yellow for example. On darker cars you don't really notice the CF roof. On my 2015 F80 MG I ordered sunroof for that exact reason.

Had moon roofs for about 20 years before I moved to my f80. I was originally not happy going without, but in reality only ever used my moonroofs for indirect ventilation by popping up the rear to open. I hate having the sun beating down on my head while driving. Having it shaved does not help but I really don't like the greenhouse effect in the car...

It would defeat the purpose entirely. The whole point of a CF roof is to save weight.

My wife says the CF roof makes it look like it has a mullet...lol But we never use sun roofs, I'll go multiple months without even opening the shade part of the sunroof.
