If you look back a page you will see the dyno sheet I posted. There's a comparison between "stock" and stage 2+. I had a full AA exhaust and intake on it during the stock run but that's it. He flashed it back to stock for me to get a run and then ran it at stage 2+ but those numbers are a custom tune from Alex.
You were pushing 439 to the wheels with just an exhaust and intake?
He had downpipes also
Yeah but downpipes dont give that much of a hp gain 439 to wheels is 80 whp over stock. Surprisingly, it was done on a mustang which tends to read low
I've seen 400+whp fully stock cars on mustang dyno's, where are you getting 80whp from?
Those are more than likely incorrect readings due to some sort of external factors. No way an m4 is pushing over 400 to the wheels stock. I got 80whp because the car is rated at ~360whp from the factory and his dyno reading is 439whp
Google f80 m3 mustang dyno, you will see a handful.

Not saying they don't exist. I'm saying those are incorrect readings, power ratings from the factory adhere to strict guidelines. Bmw would not underrate the hp to that level. Over 400 wheel is implying the car pushes 500 at the crank which is not true.

There is an endless amount of factors that can take place.

Not saying this is the reason you are seeing some people with higher dyno readings when you google M4 mustang dyno but usually early cars/software versions always produce higher numbers. Starting in 2006 with the N54 335 motors that would dyno at or over the 300hp advertise point.

My guess is the factory pushes out higher reading vehicles for press/reviews.

Although first generation software is usually buggy, most of the time it reads the most power.

On September 25, 2013, BMW released technical specifications of the M4 powered by an M-tuned S55B30 engine. The engine uses two mono-scroll turbochargers with a peak boost pressure of 18.1 psi (1 bar). The power is rated at 317 kW (431 PS; 425 hp) while torque will be 550 Nâ‹…m (410 lbâ‹…ft).

I went with Stage 2 / GTS and selected coding for my stock 2015 M3. Have had a few days to evaluate. Very well balanced package. Engine is more urgent to redline. DCT does everything faster, smoother & better. Cold start raucous gone... Alex is a pro. Excellent purchase / support experience.

When stock M3 DCT's are pulling 11.6-11.7 bone stock, you betcha they're pushing over 400whp stock. BMW has HIGHLY underrated these cars. Also when MOTORTREND placed a bone stock F80 M3 on the dyno compared to an E92 M3, the F80 made 73WHP MORE, remember the F80 is rated at 425 vs. 414 for the E92. Either the F80 was massively underrated or the E92 was massively overrated. I'm pretty sure it's the former.

That is a false assumption.

Just because it pulled more whp on a dyno doesnt mean it is underrated. It could simply mean that the F80 has less drivetrain/inertia/rolling losses vs the E92.

Well I mean the two cars are rated at only 11hp apart at the crank from BMW. On the same dyno the delta was 73 WHP, that’s some serious drivetrain loss for the E9x. The E9x M3 owners who dyno usually fall inline with the standard 12-15 percent drivetrain loss, therefore it’s safe to assume even if we were generous with the F80 at 10 percent drivetrain loss, BMW massively underrated the F8x M3/M4.

So you're concluding the power is underrated off of one dyno test where there could have been other factors that affected the reading? Seems pretty inconclusive to me. There are numerous threads explaining why and how the f8x is not underrated feel free to search them up.

All I read in that thread are people confirming the S55 is underrated. There are numerous dynos out there where the S55 puts down close to its crank rated HP at the wheels.

https://jalopnik.com/the-true-power-...run-1603070524
424whp @ the wheels on a DynoJet at EAS. If BMW didn't underrate this car, they must have some magical unicorn oil running through the powertrain because that would mean ZERO drivetrain loss from the engine to the wheels.

And here are typical E92 M3 dynos at EAS on the same dyno.
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=741924
About 350whp is the norm for the E9x's, same exact dyno at the same place, right about the normal 15 percent drive train loss.

I came from a Lexus IS-F and a lot of the SoCal F owners use EAS for their dyno facility since it seemed the most consistent and accurate(not a high or low reading dyno) A stock IS-F is rated 416HP and dyno's about 350whp as well at EAS.

Fact is, when a car is trapping near 120mph and weighs in at 3600lbs, yeaah...425hp? Nope.

Anyways I'm out, don't want to derail Alex's thread any further.

I just wanted to add this in so people know what appears to be a slight downside to the flash tune. I know the cars are transformed. Run great, coding done changes a lot. Most people Couldn't be happier. Anyway, I know of a fault. When a flash tuned car is taken to BMW, they usually read the key and it shows what faults are on the car or what has been recorded on the key. So, when you're flashing the ecu, a load of different faults show up during the flash. Once flash is complete the fault codes are all reset in the car and off you go. Be aware that all of these fault codes stay on the key!! The may be deleted from the car fault code memory but not the key. Needless to say unless it bothers you then no need to worry about it but just so you wont be caught out in the dealers when you take the car for a service or some warranty work, have reset it back to stock, cleared fault codes, then service agent reads key and tells you theres been a lot of faults. oops. Have an excuse ready. lol

At the end of the flash the faults are cleared, the key is synced with the car. If the key isn't inside of the vehicle or out of range when the faults are cleared it can stay on the key. This can be avoided by placing the key inside the car maybe in the cub holder.

Even at that point it is just no message/no communication faults between the modules. Nothing to worry about.

Just for extra precautions keep your spare key stored away (out of range some place in the house) and use it only for dealer visits.

Thing is that key history is also stored with BMW ,if they really want to look back ,they can see every time a key is read and get all information they need.

I guess you could use one key for every day and then just use the spare which hasn't been near the car when flashing, if you're taking car to dealership. But, they told me that the car had shown a load of faults the previous day. Even told me what some of the faults were, so only passing on what I found.
